Scripture: “Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”
(Galatians 5:16)
Devotion: Of all the wars we fight, the one in our walk is the most deceptive. Every day, we are faced with a choice ; to walk in the Spirit or to give in to the desires of the flesh. This inner battle often causes us to stumble, straddle the line, and sometimes even lose ground. But God did not leave us powerless. He gave us His Spirit so that we can resist the pull of the flesh and live according to His truth.
We don’t need a list of “do’s” and “don’ts” to start our day—the list would be endless. What we truly need to decide is who or what will lead us. If we do not make time to read God’s Word, His voice will be drowned out by the desires of our flesh. The more we feed our spirit with God’s Word, the stronger and louder His voice becomes.
To stop being controlled by your flesh, you must change the voice that leads you. If you walk in your flesh, your day will look like you just doing whatever your flesh feels like doing; saying whatever it wants to say; and having no regard if it’s right or wrong. This sounds like a crooked walk with missed opportunities and wrong turns.
Begin by making time for God daily ; schedule it like any other important appointment. Even five minutes of reading or listening to Scripture can shift your mind, strengthen your faith, and guide your choices. Over time, walking in the Spirit will no longer feel forced ; it will become your natural way of life. Start improving your walk today.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to walk in Your Spirit daily. Strengthen me to resist the temptations of my flesh and guide me to live in Your truth. Let my steps reflect Your love, wisdom, and righteousness.
