"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus."— Philippians 2:5
Our minds are so powerful! Before we do anything, we think about it first. That means our thoughts are the seedbed of every action. Because of this truth, it is very important what we allow ourselves to think on. From day to day, so many influences; what we see, hear, and experience; enter our minds. That’s why we must stop and ask ourselves:
Where did this thought come from?
Why do I want to give up?
Why do I think isolating myself is a good idea?
Why do I believe I can’t succeed or that things will never get better?
Why do I feel like I don’t need God for everything?
Why do I feel like people don’t like me?
Why do I think I’m better than others?
These are common unhealthy thoughts that creep into the minds of many people. But here’s the truth: when we allow the mind of Christ to be in us, that eliminates these kinds of thoughts.
Having the mind of Christ would eliminate destructive choices altogether. Imagine a world without the thoughts that lead to murder, suicide, stealing, drug addictions, cruelty, adultery, or hatefulness. These sins begin with a thought; but with the mind of Christ, you would not even desire to do them.
Doing things as our heavenly Father instructs is always for our benefit. Think about the results of not walking in those sins: no broken families, no ruined health, no destroyed reputations, no wasted potential. Instead, peace, joy, love, stability, and a closer walk with God would fill our lives. Truly, having the mind of Christ leads to a much better outcome. Hallelujah!!! Let’s take on the mind of Christ and live a more blessed and fulfilled life.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for giving me the mind of Christ. Help me to guard my thoughts and not allow negative or destructive ideas to take root. When unhealthy thoughts come, remind me to measure them against Your Word and reject anything that does not line up with Your truth. Lord, fill my mind with peace, hope, and faith. Let my thoughts lead me into good decisions that honor You and bring life.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
