🕊️ PRAY HERE Devotion 🕊️ What Do You Expect to Find?

Scripture: Luke 11:9 KJV

“And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”

Devotion :

There are people who don’t even believe in the Bible who have experienced the truth of this principle.

How?

People who are always looking for trouble seem to find it! 😮‍💨

And when people keep barking up the wrong trees, eventually a door of consequences opens.

Whewww!

Now you may say,

“I’m not seeking anything. I’m not knocking on any doors.”

Oh, but think about this.

Your subconscious mind is constantly going. It is operating in the background while you are intentionally thinking about other things. Even while you’re sleeping, your brain continues processing information.

I already knew this to be true through experience and observation, but I wanted to provide some confirmation from Google too! 😂

Your brain doesn’t simply shut completely off when you aren’t consciously thinking about something.

So what are you constantly feeding your mind?

What are you expecting?

What are you looking for?

I know people who constantly worry and look for the worst to happen.

Every phone call:

“Oh Lord, what’s wrong?”

Every unexpected bill:

“I knew something bad was going to happen.”

Their spouse gets home 20 minutes later than expected:

“Something isn’t right.”

The boss says, “Can I talk to you for a minute?”

Before they even get into the office:

“I’m about to get fired.” 😂

Whewww! Lord help us!

Then you have someone who has been hurt in relationships, and now they enter every new relationship looking for betrayal.

They’re checking everything.

Analyzing everything.

Questioning everything.

Digging.

Searching.

Investigating.

And sometimes they become so determined to find something wrong that they create turmoil before anything has even happened.

Now let me be clear: Luke 11:9 is not teaching that every fearful thought magically causes something bad to happen. Jesus is teaching about persistent prayer and confidently seeking God.

But there is still a practical question worth asking ourselves:

What are you spending your life looking for?

Because where you continually direct your attention affects your decisions, your actions, and sometimes even the doors you choose to knock on.

If you’re constantly seeking trouble, you’re probably going to keep walking toward trouble.

If you’re constantly seeking gossip, you’ll find somebody willing to give you some. 👀

If you’re seeking opportunities to grow, you’ll begin noticing them.

And if you’re sincerely seeking God…

Oh, sisters and brothers, that’s where today’s Scripture gets GOOD!

Let’s read it together.

Jesus was having an encouraging teaching moment with His disciples.

He had just finished teaching them how to pray, including what we commonly call the Lord’s Prayer.

Then Jesus continued teaching them about persistence in prayer and confidence in their Heavenly Father.

And He says:

“ASK, AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN YOU…”

How many times have you needed something but didn’t want to ask?

You may have even told yourself:

“I’m not going to worry about it.”

“I’ll figure something out.”

“I’ll just do without it.”

“I don’t want to bother anybody.”

And sometimes…

you haven’t even asked GOD!

Whewww! 😮‍💨 “Jesus is on the mainline. Tell Him what you want! 🙌🏽😊

You have worried about it.

Thought about it.

Talked about it.

Lost sleep over it.

Tried to figure out how you’re going to make it happen.

Called three people and told them about it.

😂

But have you ASKED GOD?

Some of us have testimonies of receiving something simply because we asked.

I have been on both sides of this fence.

I’ve gone without something because I didn’t ask.

And I’ve also seen doors open because I finally did.

So let me encourage you:

START ASKING GOD FOR WHAT YOU NEED.

And if He leads you to ask someone for something, don’t let pride stop you.

Ask.

Of course, asking God doesn’t mean He becomes obligated to give us every desire exactly the way we demand it. Our prayers remain submitted to His wisdom and His will.

But Jesus is clearly teaching us that we have a Heavenly Father whom we can approach.

You don’t have to sit there silently carrying everything.

ASK!

Then Jesus says:

“SEEK, AND YE SHALL FIND…”

Whewwww!

He doesn’t say:

“You might find.”

He says:

“Ye SHALL find.”

That’s good news…

IF we’re seeking the right things! 👀

Because some people are professional investigators when they’re looking for something they have no business looking for. 😂

Somebody tells you one little piece of gossip, and before the night is over you’ve searched Facebook, Instagram, old pictures, family members, friends of friends…

Now you’ve found things you never needed to know, you’re upset about something that had nothing to do with you, and you’ve disturbed your own peace!

You sought it.

And unfortunately, you found it. 😮‍💨

Imagine putting that same energy into seeking God!

WHEWWWW! 🙌🏽🔥

What if you sought wisdom like that?

What if you sought understanding of Scripture like that?

What if you sought your purpose like that?

What if you sought God’s presence like that?

What if you woke up saying,

“Lord, I want MORE of You!”

Seek the right things!

Then Jesus says:

“KNOCK, AND IT SHALL BE OPENED UNTO YOU.”

Knocking requires action.

You can stand outside a door all day wishing somebody would open it…

but sometimes you need to KNOCK!

Think about somebody looking for a job.

They’ve been praying:

“Lord, open a door for employment.”

Okay!

Did you apply?

Did you send the résumé?

Did you answer the email?

Did you make the phone call?

Did you go to the interview?

😂 Whewww!

Sometimes we’re asking God to open a door we haven’t even knocked on.

Prayer and obedience work together.

If God directs you toward the door…

KNOCK!

If it isn’t the right door, trust Him to redirect you.

But don’t spend your whole life staring at doors while being too afraid to knock.

So with the PRAY HERE Prayer Revival only days away, I want you to start preparing your heart NOW.

Ask yourself:

What am I ASKING for?

What am I SEEKING?

What doors do I want OPENED?

WHEWWWW! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I can just hear the upcoming testimonies now!

HALLELUJAH!!!! 🙌🏽🔥

Don’t wait until you arrive at the revival to start seeking God.

Start TODAY.

Ask Him today.

Seek Him today.

Start knocking today.

Come expecting.

Come believing.

Come knowing specifically what you’ve been talking to God about.

When you finish reading this devotion, get on your knees; or pray right where you are.

Talk to your Heavenly Father.

Tell Him what you need.

ASK HIM!

We are praying for you.

We are asking God to move concerning your requests.

But He wants to hear from YOU too.

Don’t only send somebody else a prayer request.

YOU PRAY TOO! 🙌🏽

Jesus gave you access to the Father.

Use it!

Ask.

Seek.

Knock.

And while you’re doing it, make sure you’re asking for the right things, seeking the right things, and knocking on doors God is leading you toward.

Stop seeking things that disturb your peace.

Stop knocking on doors God has already shown you aren’t for you.

Stop looking for trouble and then being surprised when you find it.

Start seeking JESUS.

Let Him direct your desires.

Let Him direct your search.

Let Him direct you toward the right doors.

And go into prayer expecting your Heavenly Father to hear you.

Reflect & Respond

Before you move on with your day, answer these three questions honestly:

What am I asking God for?

What am I seeking?

What doors am I knocking on?

And here’s the biggest question:

What do I EXPECT to find?

Don’t spend another day seeking the wrong things.

Start seeking God.

Ask. Seek. Knock.

And let Jesus lead you.

Prayer :

Father God, thank You for reminding me that I can come to You.

Today, I am asking.

I am seeking.

And I am knocking.

Lord, You know every need, desire, concern, unanswered question, and prayer in my heart. Give me the courage to bring them directly to You.

Help me ask according to Your will.

Help me seek the things that draw me closer to You.

And lead me toward the doors You desire to open for my life.

Father, redirect me if I have been seeking the wrong things. Close doors that would lead me away from You, even when I don’t understand why they need to remain closed.

Deliver me from constantly expecting the worst. Renew my mind and help me approach You with faith, hope, and expectation.

As we prepare for the Prayer Revival, prepare my heart. Increase my faith. Give me an expectation for Your presence and Your power.

And for everyone praying from wherever they are, remind us that distance does not limit You.

We are asking You, Lord.

We are seeking You.

We are knocking.

And above everything else we could receive…

Let us find MORE OF YOU.
