🕊️ PRAY HERE Devotion 🕊️ Spiritual Blindness Keeps You From Seeing Victory

Scripture: 2 Kings 6:17 KJV

“And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.”

Devotion :

Those who make decisions according to what they see need to have good vision!

Think about it. You cannot even get a driver’s license without passing a vision test. 😂 Why? Because if you cannot see clearly, you can hurt yourself and everybody riding with you!

Have you ever heard the saying, “That’s the blind leading the blind”?

If the person leading cannot see where they’re going, everybody following them is in danger of going the wrong way too.

This is especially important for spiritual leaders and heads of households.

If you’re leading a family but cannot spiritually recognize what is harming your household, you may keep opening doors that should be closed.

If you’re leading a church but cannot discern what is from God and what merely looks good, you can lead an entire congregation in the wrong direction.

A parent needs spiritual vision to recognize when something is changing in their child that requires prayer, attention, correction, or help.

A husband or wife needs spiritual vision to recognize when something is attacking the peace, unity, and health of their marriage instead of just blaming each other.

When other people are following you, your ability to see clearly matters!

But spiritual blindness doesn’t only affect the people around you.

It affects YOU.

You cannot properly help yourself or those around you when you don’t have good spiritual vision.

Spiritual blindness can cause you to walk straight into something God was trying to warn you about.

It can make you call something a blessing that God never sent.

It can make you reject something God DID send because it doesn’t look the way you expected.

And spiritual blindness can cause something else:

It can keep you from seeing your victory!

You can be looking directly at God’s provision and only see lack.

Looking at God’s protection and only see danger.

Looking at an opportunity and only see an obstacle.

Looking at the beginning of your healing and only see how far you still have to go.

Looking at the very thing God is using to answer your prayer and not recognize it because you’re spiritually blind.

My God!

Yesterday we talked about Elisha and his servant being surrounded by the Syrian army.

The servant woke up, looked outside, and saw the enemy everywhere.

So naturally, he panicked!

But something is very important here:

The servant wasn’t wrong about what he saw.

The Syrian army really WAS there.

His problem was that he couldn’t see everything that was there.

WHEWWWW! 😮‍💨🙌🏽

That’s a revelation!

Sometimes faith isn’t denying what you see.

Faith is understanding that what you see isn’t all there is!

Yes, the problem is real.

Yes, the bills are real.

Yes, the opposition is real.

Yes, the situation is difficult.

Yes, somebody really did hurt you.

Yes, the doctor’s report says what it says.

But don’t make your final conclusion until God opens your eyes to see what HE is doing!

The servant saw an army surrounding them and concluded:

We’re defeated.

Elisha saw differently.

So what did Elisha do?

He prayed:

“LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.”

Notice Elisha didn’t first pray for God to remove the Syrian army.

He prayed for his servant’s vision to change!

Whewwwwww!

Because sometimes the first thing God needs to change isn’t your situation.

It’s your ability to see Him in it.

When God opened the servant’s eyes, the Syrian army didn’t suddenly disappear.

Instead, the servant finally saw what had been there all along:

The mountain was FULL of horses and chariots of fire surrounding Elisha!

HALLELUJAH! 🙌🏽🔥

The victory was already there.

The protection was already there.

God’s power was already there.

The servant just couldn’t see it!

How many times have we panicked over something because we couldn’t see what God was doing?

How many times have we said, “It’s over,” while God was saying, “I’m not finished”?

How many times have we cried because one door closed without being able to see the one God was preparing to open?

How many times have we thought we were abandoned because we couldn’t see the help God had already positioned around us?

Spiritual blindness can make you feel defeated while you’re actually surrounded by victory.

Whewwww! 🙌🏽

That’s why we have to be careful about allowing our natural eyes to make spiritual conclusions.

Everything God is doing cannot be seen naturally.

And this is where faith comes in.

Faith allows me to say:

“I don’t see how, but I believe God.”

“I don’t know when, but I believe God.”

“I don’t understand what’s happening, but I believe God.”

“I see the enemy, but I also know Who is greater than the enemy.”

“I see the problem, but I know my God is bigger.”

That’s spiritual vision!

And sometimes we need to pray exactly what Elisha prayed:

“Lord, open my eyes.”

Open my eyes concerning my family.

Open my eyes concerning my relationships.

Open my eyes concerning my ministry.

Open my eyes concerning my decisions.

Open my eyes concerning the people around me.

Open my eyes concerning opportunities.

Open my eyes concerning myself!

Show me what I’m not seeing.

Because you don’t want to walk away from your blessing because you couldn’t recognize it.

You don’t want to panic in a battle God has already given you the victory over.

You don’t want to surrender because you only saw the enemy and couldn’t see God’s army!

Reflect & Respond

What situation in your life currently looks like defeat?

Before you make another decision based solely on what you can naturally see, stop and pray:

“Lord, open my eyes.”

Maybe there is something you haven’t recognized yet.

Maybe God is protecting you from something you cannot see.

Maybe He’s positioning help.

Maybe He’s showing you a different direction.

Maybe what looks like defeat isn’t defeat at all.

Don’t declare the battle lost while you’re spiritually blind to what God is doing.

Ask Him to open your eyes.

Your victory may already be closer than you think. 🙌🏽

Prayer :

Father God, open my eyes so that I can see.

I don’t want to make decisions based only on what my natural eyes can see. Give me spiritual vision and discernment to recognize what You are doing around me.

Lord, show me anything I have been spiritually blind to.

Open my eyes concerning my family, my relationships, my purpose, my ministry, my opportunities, my decisions, and myself.

When circumstances look like defeat, help me not to panic. When the enemy appears to have me surrounded, remind me that what I can see is not all there is.

Strengthen my faith.

Help me see Your protection.

Help me recognize Your provision.

Help me recognize Your warnings.

Help me recognize the help You send.

And help me see the victory You have already placed before me.

Lord, don’t let spiritual blindness cause me to miss what You are trying to show me.

Give me clear spiritual vision so that I can follow You and help those You have entrusted to me follow You too.
