🕊️ PRAY HERE Devotion 🕊️ Use What You Got!

Scripture: Haggai 1:2 (KJV)

“Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD’S house should be built.”

Devotion: Have you ever heard someone say,

“I’m just waiting for the right time.”

Or maybe you’ve said,

“Once I get my ducks in a row…”

“Once I have more money…”

“Once I have more experience…”

“Once life settles down…”

“Once I get more support…”

“Once I get all my credentials…”

Whew!

Sometimes we spend so much time waiting on the “perfect moment” that we never move at all.

The truth is, many of God’s greatest works begin with people simply using what they have.

If we are faithful over little, God will trust us with much.

Glory to God!

One excuse I hear often is, “Once I get all my credentials.” While education, training, and preparation are wonderful things, and I encourage them, we must be careful not to let them become excuses that delay obedience. Many people postpone what God has already called them to do because they believe they need one more degree, one more certificate, one more title, or one more endorsement before He can use them.

Whew!

But throughout Scripture, God consistently called ordinary people who were willing, then equipped them as they obeyed. God doesn’t call the qualified…

He qualifies the called.

If God has truly called you, don’t spend your whole life preparing while never stepping into your purpose. Start with what He has already placed in your hands, and trust Him to provide everything else you need along the way.

Think about someone who dreams of starting a business. They spend years saying,

“I’m waiting until I have everything I need.”

Meanwhile, someone else starts with one customer, one product, and a lot of faith. Years later, they’re running a successful business because they were willing to use what they had.

Or think about someone who says they want to share the Gospel. They believe they need a large platform, thousands of followers, or a microphone before they can be used by God. All the while, God has already given them family, coworkers, neighbors, and friends who need to hear about Jesus.

Whew!

Use what you got!

Now let’s look at today’s scripture.

The people had stopped rebuilding God’s temple.

Their excuse was,

“The time has not yet come.”

Sounds reasonable, doesn’t it?

But God saw something different.

While His house sat in ruins…

They were busy building beautiful paneled houses for themselves.

In other words…

They had the time.

They had the resources.

They simply chose to prioritize themselves over God’s assignment.

My, my, my!

How often do we do the same thing?

We tell God,

“I’ll serve You later.”

“I’ll start that ministry later.”

“I’ll volunteer when life slows down.”

“I’ll spend more time with You next month.”

But “later” has a way of turning into years.

Whew!

Waiting can become an excuse that delays obedience.

Don’t let preparation become procrastination disguised as wisdom.

Now don’t misunderstand me.

There are times when God tells us to wait.

But that’s different from us choosing to delay because we’re uncomfortable, afraid, or waiting for everything to be perfect.

God isn’t looking for perfection.

He’s looking for obedience.

If God is with you…

You already have enough to take the first step.

He can multiply your little.

He can provide what you lack.

He can open doors no one else can open.

And He may give you a miraculous, praise-worthy testimony because you trusted Him enough to move before everything looked perfect.

Glory!!

Today, stop focusing on what you don’t have.

Start thanking God for what you do have.

Use your gift.

Use your voice.

Use your testimony.

Use your Bible.

Use your time.

Use your resources.

Use your faith.

God has a way of multiplying what we place in His hands.

Before you leave today, ask yourself:

What assignment have I been delaying because I’m waiting for the “perfect time?”

Maybe today…

is the perfect time.

Prayer: Father God, forgive me for the times I have delayed obedience while waiting for the perfect moment. Help me stop making excuses and start trusting You with what I already have. Teach me to be faithful over the little, knowing that You are able to increase it in Your perfect timing. Give me the courage to take the first step, even when I cannot see the whole picture. Help me never allow preparation to become procrastination or fear to disguise itself as wisdom. Help me prioritize Your Kingdom above my own comfort and plans. Lord, use my gifts, my resources, my testimony, and my life for Your glory. I trust that if You have called me, You will provide everything I need along the way. Thank You for being faithful every step of the journey.
