šŸ•Šļø PRAY HERE Devotion šŸ•Šļø Don’t Listen to Them! Pt 1

Scripture: Job 2:9 (NIV)

ā€œHis wife said to him, ā€˜Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!ā€™ā€

Devotion: Since the days of old, people have been giving bad advice.

I’m sure you can think of moments in your own life where everyone around you had something to say: advice, opinions, and commentary that did not align with God.

Like when you’re going through a hard season and people say, ā€œThey going through all that because they not saved for real.ā€

Or when God is stretching you, and people assume your struggle means something is wrong with your relationship with Him.

Or when God leads someone to step out on faith, like leaving a job to start a ministry, and people say, ā€œThat’s crazy. You better keep that job. That don’t make no sense.ā€

Or when you choose to stay and fight for your marriage, and people say, ā€œI would’ve left. You doing too much. It’s not worth it.ā€

Or when you’re consistent in giving, serving, and honoring God, and people say, ā€œThat’s why you struggling financially. You need to stop doing all that.ā€

Or when you’re trying to live right, and people say, ā€œIt don’t take all that. God understands. You can do a little of this and a little of that.ā€

These are real conversations.

Now here is Job, an upright man, whose faith in God is being tested. Not because he did anything wrong, but because God allowed it.

Meanwhile, the people around him were all in his ear talking crazy.

And then… his own wife.

The one person you would expect to encourage him told him to curse God and die.

DON’T LISTEN TO THEM.

People will misinterpret your situation.

They will speak from their fear, their logic, and their lack of understanding of what God is doing in your life.

They will tell you not to step out on faith.

They will tell you it doesn’t make sense.

They will tell you you’re going to fail if you trust God.

But we have to stand firm in our faith like Job did.

He told his wife, ā€œYou speak as one of the foolish.ā€

Anybody who gives you advice against God is unlearned in that moment and is telling you WRONG.

Let that sit with you.

What if Job had listened to her?

He would have missed everything God had for him.

He would have forfeited restoration.

He would have died in the middle of his test instead of coming out of it.

And some of us are one decision away from missing what God has for us; just by listening to the wrong voice.

But you have to make up in your mind:

ā€œI don’t care who it comes from… if it goes against God, I’m not listening.ā€

Stay grounded.

Stay faithful.

Stay obedient.

Because what God is doing in your life will not always make sense to others; and it’s not supposed to.

God bless you!

Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your Word and for the example of Job. Lord, help us to stand firm in our faith no matter what voices surround us. Give us discernment to recognize when advice does not align with You. Strengthen us to reject every word that goes against Your truth and to hold on to what You have spoken. Help us to trust You even when it does not make sense and even when others doubt. Teach us to listen to You and obey You above all else.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
