Scripture: Ecclesiastes 7:8 (NKJV)
âThe end of a thing is better than its beginning; the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.â
Devotion: Patience⌠how many of us truly have it?
How do you feel when youâre sitting at a red light that holds you for over two minutes?
When you pull up to a drive-thru and see a long line wrapping around the building?
Or when youâre waiting for Thanksgiving dinner to finally be ready? LOL!
The truth is, WE DONâT LIKE TO WAIT.
It doesnât matter what it is : we want it fast, instant, and right now.
Letâs visualize what an impatient person looks and acts like.
Impatience can make someone mean, rude, selfish, difficult, and chaotic.
They huff and puff when they have to wait.
They get snappy and smart-mouthed when things arenât happening ontheirtimeline.
They rush into decisions, miss important details, and end up making choices that cost them more later.
Let me ask you thisâŚ
Do you like dealing with impatient people?
I really couldâve just asked that first! LOL!
Patience is one of Godâs characteristics.
It is a fruit of the Spirit, a virtue, and a necessity.
And no matter how much we resist it,we will not get everything fast.
Sometimes life requires waiting.
James 1:4 tells us that if we let patience have her perfect work, it will make us perfect and complete;Â lacking nothing.
That means patience helps us perfect things and patience helps us actually finish things.
Youâve heard the phrase, âYou ainât seen nothing yet.â
Well, without patience, you really wonât see it ; because youâll quit too early or rush ahead of God.
I have seen so many people miss blessings, opportunities, and better outcomes simply because they couldnât WAIT.
Too quick to move.
Too quick to give up.
Too quick to react.
Too quick to speak.
Too quick to choose something convenient instead of something God-ordained.
Todayâs scripture reminds us:
âThe end of a thing is better than the beginning.â
So donât get discouraged by where you are right now.
Look at where youwill end up if you just hold on with patience.
Nothing looks like what it will become in the beginning.
A concrete foundation doesnât look like the beautiful four-bedroom home it will one day be.
A caterpillar doesnât look like the butterfly it is destined to transform into.
And you donât look like the final version of the promise God is building in you.
Patience helps us make better decisions, regulate our emotions, reduce stress, and grow stronger spiritually.
When we wait on the Lord, follow His steps, and pace ourselves according to His timing ; we position ourselves for blessings that last and a future that is secure.
So today, take a breath. Slow down. Trust Godâs timeline.
Your progress and your promise are connected to your patience.
Prayer: Father, thank You for reminding me that patience is not punishment but preparation. Help me to slow down, trust Your timing, and wait with a good attitude. Strengthen my faith so I donât rush ahead of You or grow discouraged when things take time. Teach me to let patience complete its work in me, so I can receive everything You have promised.
In Jesusâ name, Amen.
