🕊️ PRAY HERE DEVOTION 🕊️ You Are At WAR With Your Flesh

Scripture: Galatians 5:17 (ESV)

“For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.”

Devotion: You may automatically respond to the title of today’s devotion thinking, “I’m not at war.”

Or even say things like, “I’m in control,” or “I’m not doing anything wrong.” And maybe in your world, from what you can see, that feels true.

But the truth is this: every living and breathing person is at war.

Not with people.

Not with situations.

But with their own flesh.

The Bible already tells us that there is nothing good in our flesh. That’s exactly why God gave us help. He didn’t leave us to fight this battle alone. He sent us the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Living God.

This is why you can have it in your heart to do the right thing… but still end up doing the opposite.

You know what’s right.

You intend to do what’s right.

But in the moment, something else takes over.

That’s the war.

Have you ever heard of “the battle between good and evil”? Well that is going on in you right now.

I know, it’s like a wow epiphany moment!

Have a real moment of honesty with yourself and admit:

“I am at war with my flesh.”

Every single day you wake up, the flesh is going to go against the Spirit, and the Spirit is against the flesh. They are constantly pulling in opposite directions. So every day, you are faced with a choice:

Who will win today?

We know there are consequences to the things we say and do. But the problem is, in the moment, we don’t think about the outcome. We go with how we feel. We give in to the flesh. Then afterward, we convince ourselves it wasn’t that serious… or that we did nothing wrong.

But that’s how the flesh operates; it pulls you in first, then justifies it later.

Today, I urge you: do not let your flesh win.

You are not powerless.

The Spirit of God within you, the Holy Spirit, is your helper. He guides you in the right direction. He checks you before you speak. He convicts you before you act. He gives you the strength to say no when temptation shows up.

You have everything you need to win this battle.

But you have to choose to follow the Spirit.

Prayer: Father, thank You for not leaving me to fight this battle on my own. Forgive me for the times I have given in to my flesh and ignored Your Spirit. Help me to be honest with myself and recognize the war within me. Strengthen me through Your Holy Spirit to choose what is right, even when it is hard. Guide my thoughts, my words, and my actions so that I can walk in victory daily. I choose today to follow Your Spirit and not my flesh.
