Scripture: 2 Chronicles 14:11 (KJV)
“…Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God…”
Devotion: It is a known fact that we need water every day. But when you’ve gone without it and become dehydrated, the need for water feels greater. Nobody has to tell you to drink; you are desperately trying to get to it so you can be restored.
We need God just as much as we need:
water to drink, air to breathe, and food to survive.
The difference is… many people don’t realize how much they need Him until they are desperate.
We have to be wise enough, and our eyes have to be open enough, to see how much we truly need God.
Because life will bring situations that are way beyond your control and ability.
In today’s scripture, King Asa knew exactly who to call on. He didn’t try to figure it out himself. He didn’t pretend to have it all together. He didn’t rely on numbers, strength, or strategy.
He went straight to God and said, in simple terms:
“We don’t have the power, but You do. Help us.”
That’s humility.
That’s dependence.
That’s faith.
Let me make this real.
There is a parent right now crying out to God because their child is self-destructing, making dangerous decisions, and they can’t fix it.
There is someone lying in a hospital bed, afraid, desperate for healing, realizing that doctors can only do so much.
There is someone overwhelmed with bills, pressure, and responsibilities, and nothing they try seems to be enough.
That feeling of being powerless will bring you to a place where you realize:
I need God.
And that’s exactly where King Asa was.
He didn’t approach God casually—he approached Him desperately and confidently at the same time. He knew God was the only One who could step in and turn things around.
And God gave him victory.
We, as God’s children with many needs, must have that same attitude.
Not pride.
Not self-reliance.
Not “I got this.”
But:
“Lord, I need You.”
Because when you truly know you need Him, you stop playing, you stop delaying, and you go straight to Him.
So what are you going to do?
Go to God today and tell Him how much you need Him.
Don’t wait until it gets worse.
Don’t wait until you’re overwhelmed.
Go now.
God bless you.
Prayer: Father, I acknowledge that I need You. Not just sometimes, but every day, in every area of my life. Forgive me for the times I tried to handle things on my own. Help me to depend on You fully. Step into every situation I’m facing and show Yourself strong.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
