Scripture: Luke 11:28 (NIV)
âHe replied, âBlessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.ââ
Devotion: Have you ever felt like you just have bad luck?
Like one disappointment after another keeps happening. Doors keep closing. Plans keep falling through. You feel like you canât catch a break no matter how hard you try.
But what if I told you thereâs a strong possibility that some of what you are experiencing is not bad luck at all?
What if itâs the result of disobedience?
You might say, âHow so? Iâm not doing anything wrong.â And in your thinking that might be true. But what would our Heavenly Father say? Can you honestly say that you are fully obeying Godâs instructions and guidance for your life?
Think about it.
The last doors that closed in your face⌠who came up with that plan? Did you pray first? Did you seek Godâs direction before you moved forward? Or did you decide what you wanted to do and then ask God to bless it afterward?
Many times we ignore Godâs instructions and move according to our own ideas, our own desires, and our own timing. Then when things fall apart, we start praying urgently for God to get us out of the situation we created.
Disobedience causes more trouble than we realize.
We all want to be blessed. We want the house, the money, the car, stability, success , and for some, even popularity. But the Bible makes something very clear: those who hear Godâs Word and obey it are blessed.
Not just those who hear it.
Not just those who quote it.
But those who obey it.
Sometimes the very thing holding someone back from finally catching a break is simply obedience.
You have tried networking.
You have tried hustling.
You have tried pushing harder.
You have tried forcing doors open.
But maybe the thing you havenât tried is this: Be still. Read Godâs Word. And obey it.
Obedience realigns your life with Godâs wisdom. It places you back under His guidance. It brings clarity where confusion once ruled.
And the beautiful part is this: you donât have to wait months or years to begin. You can turn things around today by choosing obedience.
God bless.
Prayer: Father, forgive me for the times I have made decisions without seeking Your guidance. Help me to be honest about the areas where I have ignored Your Word and followed my own plans instead. Give me the humility to slow down, listen to You, and obey what You instruct me to do. Align my heart with Your will and guide my steps so that my life reflects Your wisdom. I want to live in the blessing that comes through obedience.
In Jesusâ name, Amen.
