🕊️ PRAY HERE DEVOTION 🕊️ Unknowingly Serving Money

Scripture: Matthew 6:24 (NIV)

“No one can serve two masters… You cannot serve both God and money.”

Devotion: Have you ever heard someone say, “I’m doing this for my family,” but they never see their family because they’re always chasing money?

Or have you ever noticed how some people say God comes first, but they’ll skip church, skip prayer, compromise integrity, and overwork themselves for a check?

That’s not just being busy. That might be serving money.

Nobody wakes up and says, “Money is my god.” But your master is revealed by what you prioritize, protect, and obey.

Unknowingly serving money can look like:

• Making decisions based on profit instead of purpose.

• Compromising morals because “everybody does it.”

• Measuring success only by income and possessions.

• Being constantly anxious about money, even when God has provided.

• Saying “I trust God,” but never stepping away from what feels financially secure ; even when He says move.

Money itself is not evil. But when it becomes your source, your security, your identity, or your reason for every decision ; it has quietly taken the throne.

Jesus made it plain: you cannot serve two masters.

If money dictates your obedience, schedule, mood, and sacrifices more than God does ; you may not be managing money… money may be managing you.

The danger is not having money.

The danger is loving it more than you love obedience.

Ask yourself honestly:

If God told you to walk away from something profitable but spiritually draining… would you?

That answer reveals who you are serving.

Prayer: Father, examine my heart. If I have unknowingly placed money where only You belong, correct me. Help me trust You as my provider and not make financial security my master. Teach me to seek first Your Kingdom, and let everything else fall into its proper place.
