🕊️ PRAY HERE DEVOTION 🕊️ They Not Like Us; We Not Like Them

Scripture: John 17:16 (NIV)

“They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.”

Devotion: As believers and followers of Christ, we are physically in this world, but we are not like it. We are kingdom citizens, living by a different set of values, principles, and standards. We walk differently. We talk differently. We live differently. That’s why we don’t always blend in, and that’s okay.

There are many things the world currently celebrates that go directly against God’s Word: casual sex, dishonesty for gain, revenge, pride, and self-promotion at all costs. These things are common and normalized, but because we fear God, we choose not to participate. Not because we think we’re better, but because we belong to Him. We live under Heaven’s holy ordinance, not the world’s shifting standards.

In today’s scripture, Jesus is praying to the Father about His disciples. He makes it clear: just as He is not of this world, neither are they. And because of that, He prays for their protection. Jesus knew that living set apart would bring pressure, misunderstanding, and opposition; but He also knew it was necessary.

God never called us to conform; He called us to be set apart. When we try to blend in to be accepted, we dilute our witness. When we stand firm in truth, even quietly, we reflect Christ. Being different doesn’t mean being rude or arrogant; it means being obedient.

If you’ve ever felt out of place, misunderstood, or even rejected because you chose God’s way over the world’s way, take heart. That’s evidence that you’re walking as you should. We are not called to look like the world;we are called to shine in it.

Prayer: Father, help me to live set apart without fear or compromise. Strengthen me to follow Your ways even when they differ from the world around me. Protect my heart, my mind, and my walk as I choose obedience over acceptance. I want to reflect You in everything I do.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
