Scripture: âThe Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him.â â Nahum 1:7 (NIV)
Devotion:
In order for a doctor to help you get well, you have to go see him, trust his wisdom and instructions, and follow his orders to good health. But the biggest challenge of it all is TRUST. Without trust, no matter how capable the doctor is, he cannot help you.
That example paints a simple but powerful picture of what trusting God truly looks like. You may be thinking, âGod is not taking care of me,â or âHeâs not making my situation any better.â But based on the example, you might now see what step youâve been missing.
God is ALWAYS ready to help us ; in ALL THINGS. But most of the time, itâs uswho keep ourselves from His help and protection.
Ask yourself:
Have you gone to Him?
Have you talked to Him and listened for His response?
Have you read His Word for His guidance?
And finally, have you obeyed His instructions?
By now, you might be having that âlight bulbâ or finger-snapping realization moment.
Letâs look again at todayâs scripture. It begins with, âThe Lord is good!â
Take a moment and let that settle in your heart â¤ď¸. No matter what is going on around you ;the Lord IS good!He is your direct and divine connection to all that is good.
Then it says, âHe is a refuge in times of trouble.â
A refuge is asafe place; a shelter from danger or harm. That means not only is Godgood, but He is also yourSAFE PLACE!
Do you need to feel safe? He is that!
Do you need protection? He is your refuge!
But hereâs the key:
The verse ends by saying,âHe cares for those who trust in Him.â
Just like the doctor cannot help you unless you trust him, God cannot take care of you unless you trust Him.
So ask yourself honestly , Have I truly trusted Him?
Not just with your words, but with your heart, your choices, and your obedience.
As soon as you fully trust Him, youâll begin to see the difference. He will show Himself to be good to you, He will be your safe place, and He will take care of you ; just as He promised. đ
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being so good and faithful. Thank You for being my refuge and safe place in times of trouble. Lord, forgive me for the times I have tried to handle things on my own instead of trusting You. Today, I choose to fully trust You with my life, my problems, and my future. Teach me to rest in Your care, knowing that You will take care of me because I trust in You.
In Jesusâ name, Amen.
