Scripture: âPraise the LORD! Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.â (Psalm 106:1 NLT)
Devotion: In a previous devotion, we learned that real love genuinely cares about another personâs well-being.
Now imagine this:
Out of the goodness of your heart, you go out of your way to help someone.
You supply a need they couldnât meet themselves.
You give them food so they wonât be hungry.
You let them stay in your home when they had nowhere else to go.
You put in a good word for them to get a job.
Your kindness and compassion turn their whole life aroundâŚ
âŚand they donât even say thank you.
Not only is there no gratitude, but they still complain or keep asking for more ; while others speak highly of what youâve done, and they wonât even join in to acknowledge your goodness.
How would that make you feel?
Most of us would shut the door immediately.
We would feel they were ungrateful and undeserving of any more blessings.
This brings us to one of the greatest reasons we ought to praise God:
HE HAS BEEN GOOD TO US.
Though we hate dealing with ungrateful people, we have all been that ungrateful person toward God at one point or another.
God wakes us up, provides what we need, forgives us repeatedly, protects us, loves us when no one else does⌠and yet many times, we sit silent and refuse to praise Him.
Todayâs scripture says:
âPraise the LORD! Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.â (Psalm 106:1 NLT)
Sit with that for a moment.
Think about who God is:
He is your Creator, your Provider, your Refuge, your Strength, the Alpha and Omega⌠the list is endless!
Now think about how good He has been to you personally.
Even if youâre going through difficult moments right now, He continues to protect, provide, love, and sustain you. He has not stopped being good.
And if that were not enough, the scripture reminds us:
âHis faithful love endures forever.â
Endure means it keeps going even when it hurts.
It pushes through rejection, disobedience, inconsistency, and all the times we fall short.
We are not always easy for God to love , but His faithful love does not quit.
There are countless reasons why we ought to praise God.
Just the ones mentioned today are enough for us to lift our hands, open our mouths, or bow our hearts in praise right now.
Ask yourself:
âDoes my praise match Godâs goodness toward me?â
If the answer is no, then today is the perfect day to elevate your praise.
Never miss an opportunity to praise the Lord your God ; He is worthy.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your goodness and Your faithful love that endures forever. Help me to never take Your blessings for granted. Teach me to praise You wholeheartedly and to give You the honor You deserve. In Jesusâ name, Amen.
