🕊️ PRAY HERE Devotion 🕊️ When Lust Lingers Sin is Birthed

Scripture: James 1:15

“Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”

Devotion: Have you ever wanted something so badly that it consumed your thoughts?

You kept thinking about it.

You kept entertaining it.

You kept feeding the desire until eventually… you went and got it.

That is how lust works.

And let’s make this clear; lust is not just sexual.

Lust is any strong sinful desire that is allowed to linger, grow, and take control.

It can be lust for sex.

Lust for money.

Lust for revenge.

Lust for power.

Lust for attention.

Lust for things God told you to leave alone.

James tells us exactly how it happens.

First comes lust.

It starts as a thought.

A desire.

A temptation.

But when that lust is entertained instead of resisted, it conceives.

That means it gets pregnant.

And once it is fully grown, it gives birth to sin.

And sin… brings death.

Whew.

That is serious.

This is why we cannot play with lust.

Because what starts small can destroy your whole life.

It is not just “I was just looking.”

It is not just “It was only one time.”

It is not just “Nobody knows.”

Sin grows in secret before it destroys in public.

And let’s be honest; it is not just the unchurched dealing with this.

You have “saved” men laying beside their wives at night, lusting on their phones because of all the temptation on the internet.

You have men and women becoming slaves to pornography while still lifting their hands in church on Sunday.

You have people lusting after someone else’s spouse.

People craving lifestyles they cannot afford and compromising their integrity to get it.

People feeding bitterness until it turns into hatred and revenge.

And then we wonder how we got here.

Lust lingered.

That thought should have been rebuked.

That door should have been closed.

That temptation should have been resisted.

But instead, it was fed.

And what you feed… grows.

The enemy does not need you to fall overnight.

He just needs you to keep entertaining what God told you to kill.

That is why deliverance matters.

That is why repentance matters.

Because lust left unchecked will always lead somewhere dangerous.

But thanks be to God; freedom is still available.

You do not have to stay bound.

You do not have to stay addicted.

You do not have to keep losing the same battle.

Bring it to God.

Confess it.

Repent of it.

Ask Him to deliver you from it.

Because what is hidden from people is never hidden from God.

And He is not calling you to shame; He is calling you to freedom.

Today is a good day to let it go.

God bless you!

Prayer: Father God, I come to You asking for forgiveness and freedom. Lord, forgive me for every sinful desire I have entertained, every lust I have allowed to linger, and every place where I chose temptation over obedience. Search my heart and reveal anything in me that is not pleasing to You. Deliver me from lust, addiction, pornography, unhealthy desires, and anything trying to separate me from You. Help me to crucify my flesh and walk in purity and self-control. I do not want sin to grow in my life and produce death. I choose repentance, healing, and freedom today. Clean me, restore me, and keep me close to You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
