🕊️ PRAY HERE DEVOTION 🕊️ Trust the Training

Scripture: Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Devotion: Parenting can be full of joys and precious moments, but it’s also not for the faint-hearted.

There is a mysterious shift that happens from a child’s first words, to their teenage years, and into young adulthood.

One minute they’re sitting in your lap at church, repeating scriptures after you…

and the next, they’re saying, “I don’t want to go to church.”

They can go from needing you for everything…

to thinking they don’t need you, or God, at all.

So many things can happen in their lives that we no longer have control over.

When they are young, we can guide, correct, and set boundaries. But when they reach the age where they start making their own decisions, that’s when many parents begin to feel fear, heartbreak, and even helplessness.

And this is where we have to learn to…

Trust the training.

Ask yourself:

How did I raise them?

Did I teach them right from wrong?

Did I show them God; not just tell them about Him?

Did I give them the tools they need to live for Him?

Because today’s scripture is not just a suggestion; it’s a principle.

“Train up a child in the way he should go…”

This means intentional teaching.

Intentional correction.

Intentional example.

“…and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Notice it does not say they won’t wander.

It does not say they won’t test things.

It does not say they won’t make mistakes.

But it does mean this…

What you put in them will stay in them.

Even if they drift…

Even if they rebel…

Even if they try to go their own way…

That Word, that training, that foundation will follow them.

There will come a moment where what you taught them will speak louder than the world.

So don’t panic.

Don’t give up.

Don’t lose hope.

God sees your prayers.

He sees your tears.

And most importantly; He remembers your obedience in training them.

Your job was to plant.

God’s job is to water and bring the increase.

Trust that what you taught them will come back to them at the right time.

They are not lost.

They are covered.

God bless you.

Prayer: Father, help me to trust the training I have given my children. When fear tries to come in, remind me that Your Word does not return void. Strengthen my heart and help me not to give up on them. Cover my children, guide them, and bring them back to You. Let every seed I planted grow in Your perfect timing.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
