🕊️PRAY HERE Devotion🕊️ “To Know Him is to Trust Him”

Scripture: “And the scripture was fulfilled that says, ‘Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,’ and he was called God’s friend.” — James 2:23 (NIV)

Devotion: Most people are not quick to trust those they don’t know very well , and honestly, that’s wise. Until you get to know someone, how can you be sure that they are honest, trustworthy, have good character, and can truly be depended on?

Would you let a person you barely know borrow money, babysit your children or your pet, or share your most personal information with them? Probably not. We naturally build relationships over time through consistent experiences before trust is established.

Many of us are guarded and have trust issues from past disappointments where we were let down. But what’s often overlooked is how this same principle applies to our relationship with God.

Some people struggle to trust that God will answer their prayers ; so they don’t pray much. Others doubt whether He truly cares or hears them. Often, this lack of trust comes from not really knowing Him.

You may be thinking, “I know God. I trust Him.” But the truth is, how well you know God shows up in the confidence and effectiveness of your prayers.

If you truly know Him as a promise keeper, you won’t doubt His Word. If you really spend time with Him in prayer and study His Word regularly, you know Him well enough to be called His friend. And as His friend, you gain a deep sense of assurance ; that He is who He says He is and will do exactly what He promised.

Your experiences with Him : the times He’s answered your prayers, healed your body, provided when you had nothing, or gave peace when you were overwhelmed ; all become testimonies of His faithfulness. These moments strengthen your trust because they reveal His consistent nature.

Today’s scripture tells us that Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, and he was called God’s friend. Abraham’s faith wasn’t blind; it was built on knowing God’s character. Even in the most uncertain circumstances, Abraham trusted God completely , and God came through every time.

Maybe today you feel far from having the faith of Abraham. That’s okay. Faith grows through relationship. To know Him is to trust Him, and that requires spending more time with Him : through prayer, worship, and studying His Word.

Life constantly presents opportunities to trust God. Every challenge, delay, or trial gives us a choice: we can either try to handle things on our own or trust Him to work it out. The more you know Him, the easier it becomes to trust Him, because His track record never fails.

So draw closer to Him today. Get to know Him deeply. Because when you truly know God, trusting Him becomes natural.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being trustworthy, faithful, and true. Help me to know You more deeply each day so that my trust in You grows stronger. Remove any doubt, fear, or hesitation in my heart. Teach me to lean on You completely and remember every time You’ve proven Yourself faithful. Just like Abraham, I want to be called Your friend. I choose today to build a deeper relationship with You and to trust You with every part of my life.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
