Scripture:Â Romans 9:1
“I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,”
Devotion: Have you ever known people who just don’t seem to have a conscience? Like they don’t feel bad about anything wrong that they do?
Or maybe you’ve had moments where you were honestly confused about what was right and what was wrong.
You need the Holy Spirit.
If we’re being honest, we have all been guilty of finding everyone else’s faults and not our own. The Bible tells us that no one is perfect except God. That means whether you realize it or not… you’ve been wrong before.
Maybe even yesterday… (just a little truth with a little humor).
This is what makes having the Spirit of God inside of you so powerful. The Holy Spirit acts as your inner conscience.
In today’s scripture, Paul is testifying that he is telling the truth, and his conscience is backed by the Holy Spirit. In other words, it’s not just his own thoughts; it’s the Spirit of God within him confirming what is right.
That’s deep.
Because when you have the Holy Spirit, you don’t just go off how you feel, you are guided and checked by God Himself.
I can attest to this personally.
If I do something wrong, or even think something wrong, I can’t rest. I can’t feel settled until I fix it, repent, or make it right.
That conviction? That’s the Holy Spirit.
And believe it or not, that conviction is a blessing.
Because it keeps you from going too far.
It keeps you from getting comfortable in wrong.
It pulls you back into alignment with God.
Without it, you can drift.
But with it, you are guided.
So don’t ignore that feeling when something doesn’t sit right in your spirit. Don’t silence that inner check.
That’s God loving you enough to correct you.
Ask Him today:
“Lord, please let Your Holy Spirit correct me and guide me.”
God bless you!
Prayer:Â Father God, thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit living within us. Thank You for loving us enough to correct us and guide us into truth. Lord, help us not to ignore conviction, but to respond to it with humility and obedience. Cleanse our hearts, renew our minds, and align our thoughts with Yours. Let Your Spirit be our guide in everything we do. Teach us what is right, and give us the strength to walk in it daily.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
