Scripture: John 8:12 (NIV)
âWhen Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, âI am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.ââ
Devotion: Merry Christmas! Now that I got that out of the way; did you get what you wanted?
Many people today are feeling depressed, angry, or disappointed. Some for very real reasons, like missing loved ones who are no longer here. May God comfort those of you who feel that void today. Go through this day with extra love, extra joy, and extra gratitude to help fill that space.
For those who have, but donât feel like they have enough, or wanted more than what they received; Christmas is not about material things at all. Imagine if people ignored you on your birthday and were upset because they didnât get the gifts they wanted⌠on your birthday. While we know today is not Jesusâ official birthday, it is the day we honor and celebrate that He was born.
He is the greatest gift of all.
Accepting Jesus into your life is worth more than a trillion dollars. Why? Because everything He gives cannot be bought with money: peace, joy, strength, real protection, unmerited favor, eternal life, and countless promises. He was born to save the world, and that includes you and me.
Just like thousands of years ago, this world still needs a Savior. I see so much darkness everywhere. What else explains people taking their own lives, randomly harming others, even children? The list of evil acts is long, but there is only One who can change it all: Jesus.
Todayâs scripture reminds us of His promise. Jesus said, âI am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness.â Arenât you tired of tripping, falling, and being blindsided by darkness?
Be grateful for whatever you have today, and know this: if you have Jesus, you are eternally blessed. Accept Him. Hold on tight. Let Him light your path and give you a brighter present and future.
Prayer: Father God, thank You for the greatest gift ,Your Son, Jesus. Thank You for Your everlasting love, mercy, and grace. Comfort those who are grieving today and fill empty places with Your peace. Help me to walk in Your light and never return to darkness. I choose gratitude, faith, and joy today.
In Jesusâ name, Amen.
