🕊️ PRAY HERE DEVOTION 🕊️
Staying Power

Scripture: Ecclesiastes 9:11 (NIV)

“I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.”

Matthew 24:13 (NIV)

“But the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

Devotion: Often times, the people who appear to be the toughest or strongest are actually the most sensitive. They can’t handle much pressure or challenge at all. People whose résumés look like a list of pit stops; working very short periods at many jobs, often lack staying power. People who divorce as soon as disagreement shows up or things don’t go their way have no staying power.

Have you ever heard the saying, “Anything worth having is worth fighting for”? That means you have to hang in there and not give up if you want the reward.

You see this all the time in education. Some people start school full of excitement and motivation, but as soon as challenges arise, they run out of gas and quit. Suddenly, four years feels like forever. Meanwhile, others adjust, cry, push through, and do whatever it takes to finish. The difference isn’t talent, it’s staying power.

All of these situations are difficult, but the one who can hang in there is the one who gets rewarded.

Ecclesiastes 9:11 reminds us that life is full of uncertainty. Being fast, strong, or gifted does not guarantee success. No matter how: strong, fast, rich, or brilliant you are; life happens to us all. Things don’t always go to the most qualified or the most prepared. That’s reality.

Then Matthew 24:13 adds something powerful: “The one who stands firm to the end will be saved.” In other words, the one who endures; the one with staying power wins.

So where does staying power come from? It comes from God. He is the source of our strength when we allow Him to be. Anything we need, we can ask for in His name. It also takes faith: not to quit before the reward comes, before the promise is fulfilled, or before deliverance shows up.

Ask God to help you persevere. Don’t give up too soon. What’s on the other side of endurance is worth it.

Prayer: Father God, give me staying power. Strengthen me when I feel tired, discouraged, or ready to quit. Help me to endure challenges with faith and trust in You. Teach me to stand firm until the end, knowing that You are my source of strength. I place my hope and perseverance in You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
