🕊️ PRAY HERE DEVOTION 🕊️
Spotlight Salvation or Sparkling Salvation

Scripture: Matthew 6:1–2 (NIV)

“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them… When you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do… to be honored by others.”

Devotion: Have you ever seen people do good things just for a show? Like recording themselves feeding the homeless, broadcasting every “good deed,” or constantly posting to make sure everyone sees how generous or holy they are. These are the kind of people who don’t really have a relationship with God; they are just religious. They want to look super saved, not actually be saved.

Jesus addressed this very thing. The Pharisees were known for putting on spiritual performances. They would wear Scriptures on their foreheads, pray loudly in public, and make sure everyone knew how “holy” they were. But their hearts were far from God. They loved the spotlight more than salvation.

The Bible speaks clearly against this kind of behavior.

Let’s look at today’s Scripture. Jesus warns us to be careful not to practice righteousness to be seen by others. That means doing good just to get attention, praise, or approval from people. He goes on to say that when people do this, they have already received their reward, and that reward is people’s applause. There is no reward left from God.

This is where the title comes in.

Spotlight salvation is loud, flashy, and attention-seeking. It sparkles on social media and in front of crowds, but it lacks depth, humility, and true relationship with God.

Sparkling salvation, on the other hand, doesn’t need a spotlight. It shines quietly through obedience, integrity, compassion, and a heart that wants to please God, not people. It’s the kind of salvation that God sees, and rewards.

God is not impressed by performances. He looks at the heart. If your good works are rooted in love for Him and love for people, He will honor them. But if they’re rooted in pride and the need for recognition, the reward stops with human praise.

Check your motives today. Ask yourself: Who am I really doing this for; God or people? Choose salvation that sparkles before God, not one that only shines under a spotlight.

Prayer: Father, search my heart and purify my motives. Help me to live for Your approval and not the applause of people. Remove any desire to perform or be seen, and replace it with humility and genuine love for You and others. I want my life to honor You even when no one is watching.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
