šŸ•Šļø PRAY HERE DEVOTION šŸ•Šļøā€ØSin Will Deceive You

Scripture: Hebrews 3:13 (NIV)

ā€œā€¦so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.ā€

Devotion: Have you ever convinced yourself that something you’re doing isn’t really that bad? You tell yourself, ā€œAt least I’m not doing what they’re doing,ā€ or ā€œI’ve got this under control.ā€ You feel fine, life is still moving, and nothing terrible has happened yet; so you assume everything is okay.

That false sense of security is dangerous, because sin’s favorite trick is making you think there will be no consequences. Just because you have seemingly been getting away with something for a long time doesn’t mean it won’t eventually catch up with you.

When sin stays hidden, when our hearts grow callous, and when there’s no one to lovingly hold us accountable or call it out, we begin to deceive ourselves into thinking we’re not wrong. Oh, it’s wrong. You just kept it away from the people who would have pointed it out in love.

If you’re still thinking, ā€œThis isn’t me,ā€ let me help you a little further. If you sit with yourself honestly, there are things you do and ways you act in private that you would be ashamed of if people you respect knew. You want them to continue thinking well of you.

For example, you wouldn’t want your guy friends who look up to you, or the women in your life who admire you, to hear how harshly you speak to your wife behind closed doors. They wouldn’t believe it. You would be embarrassed. The same applies to the wife who is mean and un submissive to her husband in private, but the public thinks you are a real ā€œProverbs 31ā€ wife.

Another example: you may publicly present yourself as disciplined and God-fearing, but privately entertain habits, conversations, or thoughts that directly contradict who people think you are.

One of sin’s greatest tricks is convincing you that you’re fine. It whispers, ā€œThis isn’t that bad,ā€ or ā€œNothing has happened yet.ā€ Sin deceives us into believing there are no consequences; until there are.

By the time the damage shows up, sin has already done its work.

Don’t let deception cost you what honesty could save. Sin lies, but God tells the truth to protect you.

Prayer: Father, expose every lie that sin has told me. Remove deception from my mind and heart, and replace it with Your truth. Help me see things clearly and choose what leads to life; not destruction.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
