Scripture: âForget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!â
âIsaiah 43:18â19 (KJV)
Devotion: A new year is more than a change of dates: it is an invitation from God to reset, refocus, and realign. Before anything else, pause and thank God that you made it. Survival itself is evidence that your purpose is not finished.
Resetting does not mean pretending the past didnât happen. It means discerning what belongs in your future and what does not. Keep what worked: the lessons, the growth, the faith that sustained you. Release what didnât: the resentment, distractions, and unhealthy attachments that drained your peace. Forgiveness is not agreeing with what hurt you; it is choosing freedom over bondage.
Growth requires intention. Read more, so that your mind is renewed. Grow more, so that your character is strengthened. Want more, not from comparison or pride, but from a holy desire to live fully in what God has called you to be. Pay attention to your circle. Alignment matters! The people closest to you should add to your purpose and quality of life, not subtract from it.
Stop looking at others and work on you. Comparison is a distraction from calling. Godâs work in your life is personal and precise. When you focus on becoming who God designed you to be, peace replaces pressure, and joy becomes internal; not dependent on validation.
Make yourself proud by honoring your values. Make yourself happy by walking in truth. When you are whole, the people in your life who truly matter will benefit from your obedience and growth.
Above all, acknowledge God daily: not only in prayer, but in your decisions, attitudes, and obedience. When God is recognized, guidance follows. That is how a year becomes not just successful, but divine.
Reflection
⢠What is God asking you to release in this new year?
⢠Who in your circle adds to your purpose; and who drains it?
⢠In what ways can you acknowledge God more intentionally each day?
Prayer: God, thank You for carrying me into this new year. Help me to release what no longer serves Your purpose in my life and to embrace the growth You are calling me into. Align my heart, my relationships, and my steps with Your will. I choose to acknowledge You daily and trust You fully.
In Jesusâ name, Amen.
