Scripture: Jeremiah 8:9 (KJV)
âThe wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the Lord; and what wisdom is in them?â
Devotion: A person who âknows everythingâ CANNOT learn anything else. Have you ever known someone you canât tell anything? No matter how gently you approach them, they already have an answer. They already âknow.â People like this live strictly by THEIR OWN limited and twisted wisdom. This kind of person is not teachable, often makes repeated mistakes, and continues making wrong decisions while insisting they are right.
Most of the sin in the world today is birthed from people rejecting God and His wisdom. You even have people claiming to be wise, but they are taking Godâs Word and twisting it to make wrong look right. Ohhh, this world is looking like Judah. Nothing and no one seems to be using Godâs wisdom to live properly or make just laws. What in the Judah is going on?
Letâs break it down.
Judah was committing idolatry by worshiping the sun, moon, and stars.
Judah refused to repent and turn back to God.
They had corrupt leaders who distorted the Word of God and falsely promised peace and security to the people. The Bible calls it a âlying pen.â
Think about that for a moment and then look around.
Today we see people worshiping money, fame, influence, political power, and self. We see leaders who reshape truth to fit culture instead of reshaping culture to fit truth. We see individuals rejecting biblical standards and calling it âgrowthâ or âprogress.â That is not wisdom. That is rebellion dressed up as intelligence.
Rejecting God doesnât make someone enlightened; it makes them exposed. Because once you reject the Word of the Lord, Jeremiah asks the question: âWhat wisdom is in them?â
When we refuse Him and turn away, we are rejecting blessings, divine direction, protection, and His intervention. We are rejecting the very wisdom that could save us from heartache and destruction.
All that we are in need of, we can get it from God.
Receive God and His wisdom today and watch your life change for the better. Stop leaning on your own understanding and return to the One who knows all things.
Prayer: Father, forgive me for every time I have leaned on my own understanding instead of Your wisdom. Remove pride from my heart and make me teachable. Help me to love Your Word and apply it to my life daily. Where I have rejected You, draw me back. Fill me with divine wisdom that leads to life, peace, and blessing.
In Jesusâ name, Amen.
