🕊️PRAY HERE Devotion🕊️ “Pause and Pray”

Scripture: Then he prayed, “Lord, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today, and show kindness to my master Abraham.” — Genesis 24:12 (NIV)

Devotion: Have you ever been working on something and then get to a point that you are out of answers? You felt like you were doing good, then all of a sudden you’re not sure what to do next. Sometimes, instead of racking our brains or trying a million different solutions, we should just pause and pray.

One simple thing such as this can bring you out of the fog and give you direction. Even when you think you know exactly what to do and how to do it, taking a moment to ask God for guidance will only increase your chances for success.

In today’s scripture, that is exactly what Abraham’s servant did. He was on a journey to find a wife for Abraham’s son Isaac. Because he did not want to be unsuccessful or wasteful of his time, when he reached the town of Nahor, he kneeled and prayed. His prayer was for success in his mission to find Isaac a wife.

He did not want to make the wrong choice or miss the blessing. He knew that prayer would help him make the right decision and know what to look for. I love this way of thinking.

I have adopted this way of making decisions for my own life. I pray about everything. I have made mistakes in the past trusting my thinking alone. Just like Abraham’s servant, when I started praying to God for guidance before making decisions, I started making the right choices.

All it took for him was pausing to pray for success and a sign to be sure, and just like that, God showed him Rebekah for Isaac. She was beautiful, kind, and pure. God helps us to make the best choices possible.

Do not go another day making decisions without asking God for direction if you want to start making better choices. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do before taking your next step is to simply pause and pray.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for always being ready to guide me when I call on You. Teach me to pause and pray before I make decisions, so that I do not rely on my own understanding. Help me to seek Your wisdom daily and to trust that You will direct my path. Thank You for caring about every detail of my life and for showing me what to do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
