🕊️ PRAY HERE Devotion 🕊️ NOTHING Can Stop God’s Work!

Scripture: Acts 5:19–20 (KJV)

“But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.”

Devotion: Welcome back!

If you did not read yesterday’s devotion, you should.

Today, we continue studying this powerful act of God and the obedience of the Apostles while in Jerusalem.

So these men of God have been thrown in jail by the High Priest and the Sadducees.

Why?

Because they were preaching Jesus, performing miracles, and helping people.

Imagine that.

They were arrested for doing good.

But in verse 19, we read that the angel of the Lord came by night, opened the jail doors, and brought them out.

Now, do not confuse this with Acts 16, when Paul and Silas were locked in jail in Philippi. That event happened almost twenty years later.

Okay, let’s jump back to our scripture for today.

In verse 20, the angel gives them instructions:

“Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.”

I love that.

When God frees us, He usually has work for us to do.

The Lord did not send the angel just to get them out of jail.

He sent the angel to get them out and give them an assignment.

Whew!

Some people want freedom, but they do not want responsibility.

Some want deliverance, but they do not want obedience.

But these Apostles understood that freedom and purpose go together.

What blesses me most about this story is their immediate obedience.

The angel said go.

And they went.

The angel said speak.

And they spoke.

No debating.

No complaining.

No fear.

No hesitation.

The very next morning, they were right back in the temple teaching the people.

Now imagine being the High Priest.

You had them arrested.

You had them locked up.

You thought you had stopped them.

Then word gets back to you:

“The men you put in jail are in the temple teaching again.”

Whewww!!

Can you imagine the frustration?

The religious leaders learned a lesson that day:

NOTHING can stop God’s work.

Not a jail cell.

Not opposition.

Not criticism.

Not threats.

Not jealous people.

Not religious leaders.

Not the devil himself.

If God has ordained a thing, it will be accomplished.

This whole story teaches us that it is best not to come against anything or anyone that is operating in obedience to God.

You might find yourself fighting against God Himself.

It also teaches us as believers that we should never fret or fear.

Our responsibility is obedience.

God’s responsibility is protection.

The Apostles obeyed.

God took care of them.

And He will take care of you too.

So do not faint.

Do not quit.

Do not allow opposition to silence you.

Continue the work of the Lord.

Continue sharing the Gospel.

Continue praying.

Continue serving.

Because NOTHING can stop God’s work.

God bless you!

Prayer: Father God, thank You for reminding me that Your work cannot be stopped. Help me to walk in immediate obedience just like the Apostles. Remove fear, doubt, and hesitation from my heart. Give me courage to speak Your truth and do the work You have called me to do, regardless of opposition. I pray for every pastor, minister, evangelist, missionary, teacher, and church leader. Strengthen them to remain faithful to Your Word and obedient to Your voice. Let churches be filled with truth, power, healing, and salvation. Help us reach many people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ before it is too late. Keep us steadfast, unmovable, and always abounding in Your work.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
