“And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.”

Devotion: Welcome back!

Let’s continue our discussion about this amazing service.

Imagine going to church and hearing your usual lecture-style sermon; which is fine with everyone because you are all used to it. It is a part of your religious routine.

Then one Sunday, out of nowhere, a guest speaker who is rumored to have healed people and performed miracles comes to teach at your church.

He is teaching with a doctrine you have never heard before, but you feel something powerful!

He is teaching with the authority of someone who is confident and sure about the truths he is speaking.

Now the sermon already has you on the edge of your seat…

Then suddenly, he casts an unclean spirit out of one of your church members by commanding it to come out, right there during service.

WOW, right?!

You are definitely leaving that service talking about it. You would want to experience that again.

Sounds like a riveting experience, doesn’t it?

Well, that is exactly what happened in Mark chapter 1:21–27.

Go pull out your Bible or Bible app and read these verses silently to yourself.

Okay… now that you have read it, you can clearly see why so many people came searching for Jesus by sunset.

They wanted to be healed and delivered from diseases and demonic torment.

Now think about you.

Think about your family, your friends, coworkers, and even strangers who openly share their struggles online every day.

Think about how much we all could benefit from being able to go to church and truly receive healing and deliverance.

The positive impact that would have on the world around us is mind-blowing.

Marriages could be restored.

Depression could be lifted.

Addictions could be broken.

People could be delivered from torment and bondage.

But do you know what is holding many people back?

…Faith.

Those people who received healing and deliverance from Jesus had one thing in common:

THEY BELIEVED.

They believed Jesus had the power to change their situation.

And today, many people struggle because they do not truly believe anymore.

Some people go to church expecting routine instead of miracles.

Some expect a sermon but not transformation.

Some believe in God, but not enough to expect signs, wonders, healing, and deliverance.

But Jesus is still the same.

He still has authority.

He still heals.

He still delivers.

He still changes lives.

Will you believe in the power of His name today and let Jesus come in and change your life?

Because if you believe and ask in His name, it shall be done.

Prayer: Father God, I thank You for the power and authority of Jesus Christ. Lord, increase my faith and help me to truly believe in Your ability to heal, deliver, and transform lives. Forgive me for the times I have treated church like routine instead of expecting a real move from You. I invite You into every area of my life that needs healing, freedom, and restoration. Let me experience Your power personally and help me trust You completely. I believe You are still working miracles today.
