Scripture: âAnd I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten.â â Joel 2:25 (KJV)
Devotion: Have you ever had seasons where you felt like you wasted precious time that you cannot get back? Some experiences in life can rob us of our time : bad relationships, poor decisions, disobedience, or even long seasons of waiting. Realizing that time has been lost can fill you with regret and make you constantly wish you could go back and do things differently.
Weâve all said, âIf I could just go back, I would do things differently ; just to have a better outcome.â
But what if I told you that God can make it so your life turns out as if no time was ever lost?
In todayâs scripture, God made a promise to His people: that He would restore all the years that a devastating plague had taken from them. That promise was conditional ; He would do it if they turned back to Him.
We often want blessings without obedience. We want God to give back what we lost, even while continuing to live the same way that caused the loss. But it doesnât work like that. The beauty of Godâs request is that turning back to Him actually benefits us more than it benefits Him. His love is so great that even His commands are designed for our good.
When we turn back to God, we receive a double reward: He restores what was lost, and He blesses our future with greater purpose and peace.
Letâs make it practical. Imagine someone who spent years in a toxic relationship or chasing a lifestyle that pulled them away from God. It may seem like those years are gone forever, but when they turn their heart back to God, He redeems the lost time. He brings new relationships, opportunities, and joy that outweigh the pain of the past.
God can accelerate your progress, open new doors, and bless you in ways that make up for lost time. His restoration doesnât just give you back what was lost ; it gives you better than before.
So be encouraged today: no matter what youâve been through or what you feel was stolen from you, all is not lost if you turn back to God.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being the God who restores. I repent for the times I turned away from You and wasted precious time. Lord, I ask that You redeem the years I have lost and make my future fruitful and full of purpose. Help me to stay close to You and walk in obedience so that I can experience the restoration You promised. In Jesusâ name, Amen.
