🕊️ PRAY HERE DEVOTION 🕊️
Let Go to Grow

Scripture: Isaiah 43:18–19 (NIV)

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”

Devotion: Have you ever heard the saying, “Out with the old and in with the new”? It means you have to make room for what’s new. If you were buying new furniture because the old furniture is worn out, connected to hurtful memories, or simply no longer useful, you cannot bring the new furniture into that space until you get rid of the old. Some people want a new life while holding on to old habits. Others want a new relationship but keep entertaining the old one. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. If we truly want a new life, and the blessings that come with it, we have to let go.

God speaks clearly in Isaiah 43 when He tells us, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.” He’s not saying the past didn’t happen. He’s saying stop living there. Stop rehearsing it. Stop letting it define you. Stop carrying what He already told you to release. Then He follows it with a promise: “See, I am doing a new thing!”

Here’s the problem: God can be doing something new, but if we’re still holding on to the old, we won’t perceive it. We miss what God is birthing because we’re clinging to what He’s trying to move us away from. Holding on to past mistakes, past relationships, past pain, or past versions of ourselves will delay the transformation God wants to do in our lives.

God specializes in new beginnings, but new things require new space. If you want growth, healing, freedom, and blessing, you have to trust God enough to let go. The past will only delay your future if you refuse to release it. Embrace the new thing God is doing today and allow Him to move you forward.

Prayer: Father, help me release what You have already told me to let go of. Remove anything in my heart that is keeping me tied to the past. I trust You with what’s ahead, and I make room for the new thing You are doing in my life. Strengthen me to move forward in faith.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
