Jesus Got in the Fire With Them Before Getting Them Out

Scripture: Daniel 3:24–26 (NKJV)

“Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, ‘Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?’ They answered and said to the king, ‘True, O king.’ ‘Look!’ he answered, ‘I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.’ Then Nebuchadnezzar went near the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke, saying, ‘Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here.’”

Devotion: Have you ever seen someone with such great faith that it made you believe in what they believe?

Faith is a powerful thing! And it is not limited to God or spiritual matters. Faith simply means complete confidence or trust in something or someone.

For example, if you believe you cannot do something, that belief alone can stop you from even trying. It can keep you from achieving a higher level of success simply because you convinced yourself it was impossible. Or if you believe someone doesn’t like you, or that the world is against you, you may approach life defensive, guarded, and suspicious. We act according to what we believe. And if you believe a liar, you could end up heartbroken or led into trouble.

So yes, people can have huge faith; the real question is what your faith is placed in.

When we believe strongly that our situation is too much for God, we actually reject Him. It’s not always intentional, but it happens when we say things like, “There’s nothing God can do about this,” or when we insist on handling everything alone.

God cannot get us out until we let Him in.

Your faith in God draws Him into your situation, just like it drew Jesus into the fiery furnace with the Hebrew boys. Their faith didn’t stop the fire from being lit, but it did invite God into the fire with them.

Wow!

Once we trust Him and let Him get in there with us, He can work a miracle and get us out.

Now I don’t know what fire you may be in right now, or what furnace you may have found yourself in before: maybe it’s a financial struggle, a broken relationship, health issues, or a season where everything feels overwhelming. But having strong faith that God can bring you out invites His presence into the situation with you.

That’s a praise-worthy thought! 🙌

If you have been trying to handle it alone and rejecting God’s intervention, that might be why you feel like you’re losing. When we finally surrender and trust Him, we give Him room to move.

But there’s another blessing in this text.

Once their faith brought Jesus into the fire with them, the people watching could see Him too. The king looked into the furnace expecting destruction, but instead he saw something supernatural; four men walking around, free and unharmed.

Whewwwww! Hallelujah 👏👏👏

That means their faith didn’t just affect them. It revealed God to the people watching.

This is GOOD NEWS and motivation to look at furnace situations differently. Instead of thinking from a place of doubt and defeat, you can approach them from a place of faith and victory.

So don’t be bothered when people can see that you are in the fire.

Your testimony being visible gives God an audience to show how real He is.

The same people who saw you go into the fire will also see you walking out unharmed.

God bless you!

Prayer: Father, thank You for being a God who does not abandon me in difficult moments. Increase my faith and help me trust You enough to invite You into every situation I face. Forgive me for the times I tried to handle things on my own and kept You out. Strengthen my heart so that I can stand in faith even when the fire feels intense. Let Your presence in my life be visible so that others may see You and believe. I trust You to walk with me through every trial and bring me out in Your perfect timing.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
