Scripture: Job 42:7
“After the Lord had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, ‘I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.’”
Devotion: How would you feel if your integrity and your faith were judged by what you’re going through… or by the actions of your children?
That’s a hard place to be in.
Because the truth is, what we go through in life is not always a result of something wrong we’ve done. Sometimes our faith is being tested. Sometimes God allows things we don’t understand. Sometimes our children make decisions that don’t reflect how we raised them.
And to be judged by that… is unfair.
This is exactly what Job experienced.
While he was already dealing with loss, pain, and confusion, his friends showed up: but instead of comforting him, they started accusing him.
They assumed he had done something wrong.
They assumed his situation was his fault.
They kept talking… and talking… and talking.
Giving advice that sounded spiritual… but was completely wrong.
And in the end, God Himself stepped in and said they did not speak the truth about Him.
Let that sink in.
Everything they were saying with confidence… was wrong.
And that’s how it is sometimes.
People will speak on your life like they know what God is doing.
They will judge your situation without understanding the full picture.
They will try to explain what only God has allowed.
But not every voice deserves your attention.
Sometimes the best thing you can do is stay in the presence of God and away from outside noise and distractions.
Because too many voices will confuse you.
Too many opinions will wear you down.
Too much talking will pull you away from what God is trying to do in you.
Job went through everything he went through… and still held on to God.
He didn’t let the wrong voices change his stance.
And neither should you.
Just because someone is talking… does not mean they are right.
Just because it sounds spiritual… does not mean it is from God.
Guard your ears.
Protect your peace.
Stay close to God.
God bless you!
Prayer: Father God, thank You for being the only true voice we can trust. Lord, help us not to be shaken by the opinions and judgments of others. Give us discernment to recognize what is from You and what is not. Teach us to stay in Your presence and not be distracted by outside noise. Strengthen our faith so that we remain steady, even when others misunderstand our situation. Help us to trust You completely and to hold on to You no matter what we face.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
