🕊️PRAY HERE Devotion🕊️ Don’t Become Callus

Scripture: “As has just been said: ‘Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.’” — Hebrews 3:15 (NIV)

Devotion: A callus is a thick layer of skin that develops from prolonged friction and pressure. It forms as a protective barrier to prevent any further irritation or pain.

But have you ever heard someone described as being callus or hard-hearted?

People who become callus have often endured a lot of disappointments, friction, and pressure that caused them to build emotional walls ; not wanting to be hurt or disappointed again.

The danger of becoming spiritually callus is that it can cause a person to reject God’s Word. You can reach a point where the Word of God touches everyone in the room except you. That hard barrier keeps God’s truth, peace, and healing from penetrating your heart.

This is a dangerous place to be.

The Word of God is alive and powerful. It cleanses, encourages, and gives life. But when your heart becomes hard and callus, you miss out on the blessings and breakthroughs that come through receiving His Word.

Today’s scripture urges us not to harden our hearts when we hear God’s voice. Hardening your heart is an act of rebellion ; it shuts off your ability to be led, comforted, or corrected by God. Self righteous people are hard hearted also. They believe that they don’t need any direction or help.

The Israelites became hardened during their time in the wilderness. Their stubborn hearts made it difficult for God to lead them into the promised land ; and as a result, they stayed stuck longer than they had to.

Don’t let that be your story. You don’t want to remain in the same place : spiritually, emotionally, or mentally ; because of a callus heart. Even if you’re comfortable where you are right now, there is a much better place obedience to God can take you.

God wants you to live your best life, free from bitterness, pain, and rebellion. So the next time you hear His voice : whether it’s through a sermon, scripture, or a quiet moment ; do not harden your heart. He could be speaking directly to you right now through this devotion.

Prayer: Father, thank You for speaking to me through Your Word. Forgive me for the times I’ve hardened my heart toward You. Please soften my spirit and remove every layer of hurt, pride, or fear that keeps me from hearing and obeying You. Create in me a tender heart that is sensitive to Your voice. Help me to trust You again and walk in full obedience. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
