Scripture: Luke 24:49
“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.”
Devotion: Do you need power?
People who don’t understand the use of the word “POWER” should really take time to go through the final days of Jesus.
He did what none of us have the power to do.
None of us could have known that our purpose was to die… and still walk straight into it. Not trying to escape. Not trying to fight back. Not trying to prove a point.
He went through it anyway.
And He did it with pure love and grace.
When they mocked Him; He didn’t react.
When they beat Him; He didn’t fight back.
When they lied on Him; He stayed silent.
Be honest… could you have done that?
That takes a level of power that does not come from human strength.
That kind of restraint… that kind of obedience… that kind of love…
That comes from God.
But here’s the most powerful part of it all…
Jesus didn’t just demonstrate that power; He promised it to us.
In today’s scripture, He told them to wait until they were endued with power from on high. That means clothed, filled, and equipped with something supernatural.
And He kept His promise.
On the day of Pentecost, they were all gathered together on one accord in the upper room. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the house.
The power showed up.
They were filled with the Holy Ghost.
This wasn’t just a moment; this was a transformation.
They went from hiding… to bold.
From fearful… to fearless.
From unsure… to walking in authority.
That same power is available today.
Do you want it?
Do you want the power to say no to sin?
Do you want the power to stand when everything in you wants to fold?
Do you want the power to love people who hurt you?
Do you want the power to defeat the enemy in your life?
Then you have to do what they did.
Ask. Wait. Receive.
Don’t just hear about it; experience it.
Don’t just talk about it; walk in it.
You cannot live this life the way God calls you to without His power.
God bless you.
Prayer: Father God, I need Your power. I cannot do this life on my own strength. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Give me the power to live right, to stand strong, to love, and to overcome every attack of the enemy. Help me to wait on You and receive all that You have promised. I surrender myself to You today.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
