Scripture: âIf it seems we are crazy, it is to bring glory to God. And if we are in our right minds, it is for your benefit.â â 2 Corinthians 5:13 (NLT)
Devotion: One thing I have observed in life is that people call everything they donât understand or are ignorant to, âCRAZY.â So, being that most things concerning God are beyond our logical understanding, itâs no surprise that people of great faith have been called crazy!
To anybody without faith, miracles performed by God make no earthly sense ; and thatâs exactly what makes it so God! He does things that challenge logic and stretch human understanding.
When Noah built that huge ark during a time when there had never been a flood or even a reason to have a boat that size, itâs safe to say people thought he had lost his mind. They showed what they believed by ignoring his warnings of the coming flood. But God told Noah what was going to happen, and Noah believed, obeyed, and saved his family.
Even Jesusâ family thought He was out of His mind because His ministry was drawing massive crowds through His teaching and miracles (Mark 3:21).
In todayâs scripture, Paul was addressing his critics : those who thought he and his fellow laborers were crazy for preaching the gospel so passionately, even in suffering. Paul wanted them to know that whatever looked crazy to them was being done for the glory of God! He said, in essence, âIf I were only doing what makes sense to you, it would be for your benefit ; but I choose to serve God. So, call me crazy!â
The same is true for us today. The world will often mistake your faith, obedience, and commitment to God as insanity. But hold tightly to your faith and remember ; youâre in great company!
Noah was crazy until it actually rained.
Jesus was crazy until He proved He was the Son of God and the tomb was found empty.
All true believers share something powerful in common : they know God through relationship and have personal testimonies that prove His existence and His power.
Some will be saved by your witness, while others will continue to doubt your faith. But even then, God is still working through you. Just like in Noahâs time, there will be people who ignore Godâs invitations and label your faith âcrazy.â Yet one day, when Jesus returns, it will be too late for those who refused to believe.
So, keep believing, keep obeying, and keep sharing your faith with boldness! The same God who proved Himself in Noahâs life, in Paulâs ministry, and through Jesusâ resurrection will continue to prove Himself in your life, too.
So go ahead and say it proudly , âI may be CALLED crazy, but Iâm crazy for Christ!â đ
Prayer: Father, thank You for reminding me that my faith may look crazy to the world, but it brings glory to You. Help me to stand firm, even when others donât understand my obedience. Strengthen my faith so that I may continue to believe, trust, and follow You without fear or doubt. Let my life be a testimony of Your power and Your truth.
In Jesusâ mighty name, Amen.
