Scripture: Matthew 20:30
“And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.”
Devotion: We all need His mercy shown to us.
Some people feel like they don’t need it. They think everyone else needs it more. It’s easy to look around and point out who is “worse,” who is “more wrong,” or who “really needs Jesus.”
But the truth is… we all do.
In this scripture, these blind men had already heard about Jesus. They knew who He was, and they knew what He could do. So when they heard that He was passing by, they didn’t sit there quietly. They didn’t wait for someone else to speak for them.
They cried out.
“Have mercy on us!”
They weren’t too prideful.
They weren’t trying to look put together.
They weren’t worried about who was watching.
They knew they needed something that only Jesus could give.
After you have heard about Jesus… did you cry out to Him?
Did you ask for mercy?
Or did you sit there thinking you were okay without it?
The crowd actually tried to silence them, but they cried out even more. That says something. When you truly know you need Jesus, nothing and no one can stop you from calling on Him.
Mercy is not something we earn; it is something we ask for.
And when you ask, you must ask with sincerity, humility, and expectation.
These men didn’t just cry out for attention. They cried out because they believed Jesus could change their condition.
And He did.
So don’t let pride, fear, or the opinions of others keep you silent. If you need mercy, ask for it. If you need healing, ask for it. If you need saving, ask for it.
Jesus is still passing by.
God bless you!
Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your mercy that we do not deserve but so desperately need. Lord, forgive us for the times we have allowed pride to keep us from crying out to You. Help us to humble ourselves and come to You sincerely, knowing that You are able to change our situation. Give us boldness to call on You, even when others try to silence us. Let Your mercy cover us, heal us, and restore us. We trust You completely.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
