End Your Prayers with Thanks!
Written By Maranda Kelley
Have you ever witnessed a spoiled child demand things without even being deserving of their request? Not only that, but also being very ungrateful for what they already have. Would that motivate you to meet their request? I am guessing, probably not.
Well, sometimes we come to God in prayer with the same manner of kids who always want more, without stopping to say thank you. We ask for new blessings, quick fixes, and things to go our way, forgetting all the good things He’s already done for us. It’s like treating God more like He's an on demand service rather than our loving Father. Instead of humbly seeking His will, we try to impose our own, forgetting that His wisdom far surpasses ours. Prayer isn’t just about asking for stuff ; it’s about growing closer to Him, trusting His plan, and being grateful for what we already have. When we focus on gratitude and His wisdom, our prayers become so much more meaningful.
Philippians 4:6
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; " (NKJV)
We love our Heavenly Father and we do want Him to feel our thankfulness; even when we are making new requests. Ending our prayers by giving Him thanks for all that He has done and everything He is to us reflects our love to Him. This is easy to do when our feelings are sincere and genuine towards God. Starting today, let's end our prayers with a big warm "Thank you Lord!"
God bless you!
