Praying for Prosperous Patterns!
Written By Maranda Kelley
Everyone has routines, those things we do every day without even thinking. Maybe you always park in the same spot at work or drop your stuff in the same place when you get home. Perhaps you stick to ordering the same dish every time you visit your favorite restaurant. Even if you claim, "I don't have any habits," the people close to you could probably name a few. Why? Because patterns are simply behaviors that repeat in predictable ways.
But here's the catch: not all patterns are good for us. Some turn into bad habits, and over time, they can evolve into something even more damaging, like generational cycles. Think about things like addictions, family dysfunctions, or poor health from years of unhealthy eating. These patterns can sneak in and take root before we realize the impact they're having.
Romans 12:2
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
So, what are the "patterns of this world"? They're things that seem normal because everyone’s doing them, but they lead us away from God. Conspiracy theories that breed fear and division. Worshiping what God created—money, fame, or nature—rather than the Creator Himself. Self-medicating to numb pain, putting selfish desires above others, oversharing every detail of life for attention, choosing the wrong friendships & relationships, and chasing fame with no boundaries. And perhaps the most troubling of all? Confusing right with wrong.
As we step into 2025, it's time to reflect on the patterns we find ourselves in that shape our lives. Are they helping us grow and prosper, or are they holding us back? Let’s be intentional about creating prosperous habits that bring us closer to God’s will, patterns that lead to renewal, peace, and purpose. Seek wisdom in God's word and in prayer for direction.
Which patterns are you holding on to, and which ones might God be asking you to change?
God bless you!
