🕊️ PRAY HERE Devotion 🕊️ “When We Lack Faith There Is God’s Mercy & Compassion”
Scripture: Matthew 14:14 (KJV)
“And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.”
Devotion
We have always talked about faith that produces miracles and answered prayers. But we rarely talk about HIS MERCY ON THE IGNORANT OR HIS HEART OF COMPASSION FOR THOSE IN NEED! My, my, my! We serve a God who is so loving and just! 🙌🏽💙 We often talk about how important it is to have faith in God, and it IS important! But what happens when somebody doesn’t know enough about God to have strong faith? What about the person who is hurting so badly that they don’t even know what to believe anymore? THANK GOD FOR HIS MERCY AND COMPASSION! Whewwwww! 😮💨🙏🏽
Let’s read today’s Scripture together! In Matthew 14:14, Jesus saw a great multitude of people, AND HE WAS MOVED WITH COMPASSION TOWARD THEM! Not only did He feel compassion, but HE HEALED THEIR SICK! HALLELUJAH! 🙌🏽🔥 Now, notice something! This verse does not tell us that every person in that crowd had great faith. It doesn’t tell us that everybody understood who Jesus was or knew how to pray. IT TELLS US THAT JESUS SAW THEIR NEED, WAS MOVED WITH COMPASSION, AND HEALED THEIR SICK! OOOOOOEW WEEEEE! Sometimes we become so focused on what people lack that we forget how much LOVE and MERCY our Savior has!
Think about somebody who has never been taught the Word of God. They don’t know Scriptures to quote. They don’t know how to pray like the people they’ve heard in church. All they know is that they’re sick, they’re hurting, and they need help! Or what about that mother sitting beside her child’s hospital bed, crying and pleading, “LORD, PLEASE HELP MY BABY!” She may not have all the right words. She may even be struggling with doubt! BUT AREN’T YOU GLAD THAT GOD’S COMPASSION IS NOT LIMITED TO PEOPLE WHO KNOW HOW TO PRAY PERFECTLY?! My, my, my! 🙌🏽🙏🏽
And here’s something else! WE MUST NEVER MAKE PEOPLE FEEL THAT THEIR SUFFERING IS AUTOMATICALLY THE RESULT OF NOT HAVING ENOUGH FAITH! Whewwwww! Jesus was moved by what He saw! He cared about the condition of the people! And His compassion moved Him to action! Now, this doesn’t mean that every person we pray for will receive the healing or outcome we’re asking God for. But it DOES remind us that GOD’S HEART IS NOT COLD TOWARD THOSE WHO ARE SUFFERING! He sees the brokenhearted, the discouraged, the confused, and those who are still learning to trust Him!
And come on, CHURCH! WE SHOULD HAVE THAT SAME COMPASSION! Instead of criticizing somebody because they don’t know the Bible, TEACH THEM! Instead of judging somebody because their faith is weak, ENCOURAGE THEM! Instead of questioning why somebody is still struggling, PRAY FOR THEM! And when we’re able, HELP THEM! WE ARE CALLED TO INTRODUCE PEOPLE TO JESUS, NOT MAKE THEM FEEL UNWORTHY OF HIS LOVE! OOOOOOEW WEEEEE! 🙌🏽🔥 Sometimes the very compassion we show somebody can help them come to know the God we’ve been telling them about!
So today, I want you to remember this: YES, HAVE FAITH! YES, BELIEVE GOD! YES, KEEP PRAYING! But don’t forget His mercy and compassion! And if you’re the one struggling to believe today, don’t run away from God because your faith feels weak. RUN TO HIM! Tell Him what you need. Tell Him where you’re struggling. Ask Him to strengthen your faith! THE SAME JESUS WHO SAW THE MULTITUDE AND WAS MOVED WITH COMPASSION IS THE JESUS WE SERVE TODAY! HALLELUJAH TO OUR LORD! 🙌🏽💙

Have I ever assumed that somebody’s unanswered prayer or suffering was because they didn’t have enough faith?
Am I showing compassion to people who are hurting, confused, or still learning about God?
When my own faith feels weak, do I turn toward God and ask for His help?
TODAY’S CHALLENGE: Show somebody the compassion of Jesus! Pray for someone who is struggling, encourage someone whose faith is weak, or offer practical help to somebody in need.
LET PEOPLE EXPERIENCE THE LOVE OF JESUS THROUGH YOU! 🙌🏽
🙏🏽 Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your great mercy and compassion! Lord, thank You for loving me even when my faith is weak and my understanding is limited. Please forgive me for the times I’ve been quick to judge others instead of showing them compassion. Help me have a heart like Jesus, one that sees the needs of people and responds with love. Father, strengthen my faith where I struggle to believe. Have mercy on me and my family, and please remember those who are sick, hurting, and desperately in need of Your help. Teach me to trust You more and to extend the same grace and compassion to others that You have shown me. In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen. 🙏🏽💙
