🕊️ PRAY HERE Devotion 🕊️ Who Can Vouch For Your Change?

Scripture: Acts 9:27-28 (KJV)

“But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.”

Devotion: Have you ever needed someone to put in a good word for you?

Maybe you were applying for a job and needed a strong reference.

Or perhaps you wanted to rent a house, and the landlord wanted someone to vouch for your character.

You know who you are…

But sometimes you need someone else who knows you to speak on your behalf.

Whew!

If we’re honest, many of us never stop to think about how we are coming across to people.

What can people honestly say about you?

Are you kind?

Are you honest?

Are you known for loving others?

Do people know you are sold out for Jesus Christ?

Or do they only find out you’re a Christian because you told them?

One thing that has not changed is word of mouth.

Just like news spreads quickly today, word traveled fast almost 2,000 years ago.

People were talking then…

And people are talking now.

The question is:

What are you giving them to talk about?

I’m not talking about how saved and sold out to Christ YOU CLAIM to be.

I’m talking about the reality of your works…

Your lifestyle…

And your witness.

Whew!

Let’s look at today’s scripture.

Saul needed someone to vouch for his conversion.

The disciples were still afraid of him.

They remembered the old Saul.

But Barnabas had taken the time to hear Saul’s testimony.

He listened.

He believed what God had done in Saul’s life.

Then he stood beside him and spoke on his behalf.

Barnabas didn’t just say,

“Trust me.”

No.

He testified.

He told them how Saul had met Jesus on the road to Damascus.

How the Lord had spoken to him.

How he had received his sight.

And how he had been boldly preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Glory to God!

Now think about this…

If Saul had only lived for Christ on Sundays…

If he had only preached when it was convenient…

If he had quietly hidden his faith…

Barnabas may not have had anything to say.

But Saul’s life had become his evidence.

His boldness became his witness.

His obedience became his testimony.

My, my, my!

Who can attest that you have been changed?

If your family were asked…

What would they say?

If your coworkers were asked…

What would they say?

If your neighbors were asked…

Would they know you belong to Jesus?

Would they say,

“They really live what they believe.”

Or would they be surprised to hear you’re a Christian?

Whew!

The greatest testimony is not the one you tell…

It’s the one you live.

People are watching how you respond when you’re offended.

They’re watching how you treat people who cannot do anything for you.

They’re watching whether your words match your actions.

Your witness is speaking long before your mouth ever opens.

Before we leave today, ask yourself this question:

If I needed someone to vouch for my walk with Christ… who could honestly do it?

May we all live in such a way that our lives speak just as loudly as our lips.

Prayer: Father God, thank You for changing my life. Help me to live in a way that reflects Your love, Your truth, and Your holiness every day. Forgive me for the times my actions have not matched my confession of faith. Let my lifestyle be a testimony that points others to Jesus. Give me the courage to boldly proclaim Your name without shame and the consistency to live out Your Word whether anyone is watching or not. Help me be the same person at home, at work, at church, and everywhere I go. May my witness bring glory to You, and may others see Christ living in me.
