🕊️ PRAY HERE Devotion 🕊️ Your Purpose Leaves Proof

Scripture: Acts 9:36-39 (KJV)

“Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did. And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died… Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.”

Devotion: Have you ever attended a funeral where person after person stood up and shared how someone’s life had impacted them?

One person talked about how they were helped through a difficult season.

Another shared how they were encouraged.

Someone else remembered the kindness they had shown.

When it’s all said and done…

What will people say about you?

Whew!

Today’s scripture introduces us to a remarkable woman named Tabitha, also called Dorcas.

Notice something that often gets overlooked.

The Bible calls her a disciple.

She wasn’t introduced as “Peter’s helper.”

She wasn’t known only because of a man.

She was known because she followed Jesus.

I love that.

Sometimes people mistakenly believe that only men are called to follow Christ closely or be greatly used by Him.

But throughout the Bible, God used men and women to accomplish His purpose.

The question has never been your gender.

The question has always been your willingness.

Glory to God!

Now let’s look at Tabitha’s life.

The Bible says she was full of good works and almsdeeds.

Notice it didn’t say she occasionally did something nice.

This was her lifestyle.

She saw needs…

And she met them.

She loved people…

And she served them.

When Peter arrived after her death, something beautiful happened.

The widows gathered around him…

Not simply crying…

But holding up the garments Tabitha had made for them.

Whew!

Think about that.

They didn’t have to explain her purpose.

They simply held up the evidence.

The coats.

The garments.

The proof of a life well lived.

My, my, my!

What can people hold up because of your life?

Can they point to someone you encouraged?

Someone you prayed for?

Someone you discipled?

Someone you forgave?

Someone you helped when they had nowhere else to turn?

What evidence is your purpose leaving behind?

God has not called all of us to preach behind a pulpit.

But He has called every one of us to make a difference.

Some will teach.

Some will sing.

Some will give generously.

Some will encourage.

Some will serve quietly behind the scenes.

Some will sew garments like Tabitha.

Whatever your assignment is…

Do it with all your heart.

Because your purpose is changing lives, even when you don’t realize it.

Whew!

Don’t wait until tomorrow to start walking in your purpose.

Someone is waiting on your obedience.

Someone is waiting on your kindness.

Someone is waiting on your gift.

Someone is waiting on your testimony.

The people around Tabitha did not remember her because of what she owned.

They remembered her because of what she gave.

May that be said of us too.

So today, ask yourself:

If my life were examined today… what proof would my purpose leave behind?

God bless you!

Prayer: Father God, thank You for creating me with purpose. Help me to stop comparing myself to others and faithfully walk in the assignment You have given me. Open my eyes to the needs around me and give me a willing heart to serve. Let my life be full of good works that bring glory to You and bless those around me. Show me how You want to use my gifts, my time, and my compassion to impact others for Your Kingdom. May my life leave behind evidence that I followed Jesus wholeheartedly. Help me live with purpose every single day.

In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏🏼🕊️
