🕊️ PRAY HERE Devotion🕊️“Convicted & Convinced”

Scripture: “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.” —John 16:8 (KJV)

Devotion: It’s interesting how we can sometimes pay so much attention to the faults of others but be completely unaware of our own sins. Self-awareness is essential to becoming our best selves and fulfilling our God-given purpose. Are you conscious of your actions ; both right and wrong?

For example, imagine someone correcting another person for gossiping, while they themselves just finished talking negatively about someone else. Or someone rebuking another for lying, when they often twist the truth to make themselves look better. It’s easy to point fingers, but much harder to look in the mirror.

Truth be told, we need the Holy Spirit to help us be more aware of our own hearts and actions. The biblical definition of conviction is when the Holy Spirit makes you aware of your sins. Conviction is not condemnation ; it’s compassion from God that leads you to repentance.

It is dangerous to live life unaware of sin, and even worse to not be sorry for it. Our scripture today reminds us that when the Holy Spirit comes, He convicts the world concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment. Many people today don’t believe they’re doing anything wrong because they don’t acknowledge that sin even exists. Why? Because they don’t truly believe in Jesus.

Jesus sent the Holy Spirit not only to comfort us, but also to convict us ; to help us see what is wrong in our hearts and guide us toward what is right. Conviction is a gift. It shows that God is still speaking to you, still shaping you, and still working on your heart.

When we are convicted, we are called to repent. Repentance brings forgiveness, and forgiveness restores our faith and relationship with God. Conviction leads to change, and change leads to life.

If you can live each day without feeling any conviction : not feeling godly sorrow when you lie, mistreat others, talk badly about people, steal, use foul language, or show favoritism ; that’s a sign you need to pause and pray. Ask the Holy Spirit to renew your heart and make you sensitive again to His voice.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to guide, convict, and comfort me. Forgive me for the times I ignored Your voice and justified my wrongs. Make my heart sensitive to sin and quick to repent. Teach me to be honest about my actions and humble enough to change. Help me not only to be convicted, but also convinced that Your way is best. Lead me daily in truth and righteousness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
