Scripture:“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.”– Proverbs 27:12
Devotion: Picture turning on the news and hearing a message that we are in a state of emergency! The alert urges us to prepare and find safety. Some people who truly care about their well-being will immediately take action, gather what they need, and find shelter. Others, however, will hear the very same warning and do absolutely nothing. Their response might sound like, “It’s not that serious,” or “Whatever happens, happens.”
This breaks my heart because there are people who no longer care about saving themselves. They hear the warnings, see the signs, yet continue to walk toward destruction. When I worked in the medical field, I saw patients who knew their disobedience to the doctor’s orders was killing them, yet they refused to change. Sadly, some simply did not care if they lived or died.
Our scripture today reminds us that the prudent (the cautious and wise) see danger and take shelter. First, they are able to “see” the danger. That means we must watch and pray so that our spiritual eyes remain open. If you are blind to the trouble around you, you cannot take the right precautions. But once you see and recognize the danger, it’s time to act. Do everything in your power to save yourself!
Do not ignore the signs, or God’s warnings in His Word. Sometimes He even sends other believers to caution us because He cares about our safety. Ask yourself: Am I in danger or heading toward self-destruction? Even if your answer is no today, remain vigilant. Be prudent. Take care.

Amen!!
Help me Lord to heed to your warnings and to trust your guidance. Amen
