Scripture: “And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.’” —Luke 22:19 (NIV)
Devotion: Are you good at remembering things, or do you need reminders? Some people can recall just about everything, while others need to write it down. Then, there are those with what we call selective memory, quick to forget the many times you’ve helped them but able to remember the one time you said “no” ten years ago!
Studies even show that many people have what’s called “selective memory loss,” where they forget unwanted memories and only remember the positive ones, or vice versa. In simple terms, people remember what they want to remember. Isn’t it amazing how the Bible constantly reveals how well God knows us?
When Jesus shed His blood and allowed His body to be broken for our sins, He knew how forgetful we could be. That’s why He said, “Do this in remembrance of Me.” Holy Communion isn’t just a ritual, it’s a sacred reminder of His sacrifice, mercy, and love. Every time we take part, we should reflect deeply on what Jesus did for us: He paid the price we could never pay so that we could have eternal life and freedom from sin.
But if we’re being honest, even when we take Communion, we often forget by the next day what it truly means. We eat the cracker, drink the juice, and move on without letting the weight of His sacrifice sink in.
How do I know that? Because when we keep Jesus’ sacrifice fresh in our hearts, we would be far less likely to sin against Him. Think about it, how can we remember the cross and still live as if it means nothing? Yet, many of us remember every unanswered prayer and every moment we didn’t get what we wanted, while forgetting the greatest gift we’ve ever received, salvation. That sounds selfish because it is.
So how do we stop forgetting? By spending intentional time with Him daily through prayer, reading His Word, worship, and praise. Keep His love, His mercy, and His sacrifice at the forefront of your mind. Let it influence how you live, how you treat others, and how you respond to challenges.
Never forget what He did for you.

This was an early morning two piece right here 🥊🥊 "Jesus I'll never forget!" 😭🙌🏽
