Scripture Reference: "The race is not given to the swift or the strong, but to the one who endures until the end."â Ecclesiastes 9:11 & Matthew 24:13 (combined principle)
Devotion: Have you ever started something out so strong and so good; then somewhere along the way you started slacking or even quit before you finished? At first, you were motivated, encouraged, and had all the momentum to keep going. But eventually, or sometimes quickly, something slowed you down or stopped you altogether.
Think about it:
Remember when you first joined your church? You were so enthusiastic about attending services, getting involved, and growing spiritually. But now, you donât even mind if you miss a few Sundays.
Or remember when you first started that new job, project, or workout plan? You showed up early, worked hard, and gave it your all. But as time passed, you lost focus and no longer give it the same energy.
Ask yourself this:
What slowed me down?
Why did I get weary and quit?
Was it a relationship that distracted me?
A painful loss that drained me?
Something somebody said that discouraged me?
Or did I simply get busy and start doing something else?
Hereâs the truth: if you faint, you canât finish. You wonât make it to the finish line, you wonât grow spiritually or naturally, you wonât reach your goals, and you wonât receive the rewards of pressing through to the end.
If youâve gotten weary and halted in your progress, this devotion is your water break. Drink this Living Water and let your spirit be refreshed! Be encouraged to keep going, to finish your race, and to endure until the end. Victory belongs to those who donât quit.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for reminding me that the race is not about how fast or strong I start, but how faithful I am to endure. Forgive me for the times I grew weary and fainted along the way. Refresh me with Your Spirit, strengthen me with Your Word, and help me to stay focused and full of faith until I see your promises. Let my day end victorious, bringing glory to You.
In Jesusâ name, Amen.
