Scripture: “Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.” — Proverbs 4:25
Devotion: Your ability to focus can determine your success, progress, and outcome in life. Whatever the goal: spiritual, personal, career, or even your health; your focus will decide the direction and duration. A runner keeps the finish line as their focus and it motivates them to keep running. Another example, if your focus is to buy a car, you’ll research what you want, create a budget, make a plan, and stick to it. But if you lose focus, you’ll spend money on other things, get distracted with other projects, and delay or even lose your goal. The same is true with spiritual goals. If you want to grow closer to God, you must stay focused. If you want to break a habit, you must stay focused.
What you focus on also shapes your reality. Reality TV is a good example: producers only show the clips that highlight the drama or love story they want you to see. In the same way, if you only focus on negative things, you’ll never notice the blessings around you. That’s why God commands us to keep our eyes straight ahead; on Him. Keeping your focus on God helps you see clearly, avoid distractions, and stay on the right path that leads to gain and not loss. So I leave you with these questions: What is your focus? Do you see victory or defeat?
Prayer: Lord, help me to focus on You. Remove distractions that try to pull me away from my purpose. Teach me to keep my eyes fixed on Your promises and not on the problems around me. When I’m tempted to look away or give up, remind me of the reward that comes from staying focused. I choose today to keep my eyes on You, the Author and Finisher of my faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Lord help me to keep my focus on you and not on my circumstances. Help me to stand on your firm foundation. Amen.
