Scripture:“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.”– Ephesians 5:8
Devotion: First, think about the benefits of light. Light allows us to see what cannot be seen in the dark. It makes things clearer and more beautiful by illuminating them. Have you ever heard the phrase, “I once was blind but now I see”? When you begin walking in the light of Christ, you are no longer blind. The things you once did in darkness lose their hold, and your life begins to reflect His truth.
Children of light carry an illuminating glow that is both beautiful and welcoming. People were drawn to Jesus not only because of His words, but because of the radiant love He carried. In the same way, when you let your light shine brightly for Him, more people will be drawn to know Him.
Consider this: someone living in darkness may be depressed, unfriendly, withdrawn, defensive, and constantly stumbling because they cannot see their way. But when that same person finds Jesus and begins to walk in the light, their entire life transforms. Their smile becomes brighter, their attitude shifts, and the love of Christ shines through them. I have seen this transformation not only in my own life, but in countless others over the past 30 years.
Another benefit of light is that it drives out darkness. Darkness cannot exist where light is present. Your light in Christ may even make others uncomfortable, because light exposes hidden things. That’s why a family member, coworker, or friend may distance themselves; they feel exposed by your glow. Just as stains are more visible in the light, sin feels more revealed in the presence of God’s truth.
But remember this: those who are still walking in darkness will either shy away from the light or be drawn to it. That is why it’s so important to desire a light so bright that all can see and know that God is real. When you live as a child of light, your life will not only look different, it will feel better. The joy, peace, and love of Christ will radiate from within you, becoming a testimony without you having to say a word.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for calling me out of darkness and into Your marvelous light. Help me to walk each day as a true child of light. Let my life shine so brightly that others see You through me and are drawn closer to You. Drive out every shadow of darkness and fill me with Your love, joy, and peace. May my light never grow dim, but always reflect Your glory.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Yes this is my prayer daily that my life reflects the light of Jesus and that His light will shine so bright through me that others can see Him in me. Thank you Jesus for being my light in darkness.
