Scripture: Proverbs 25:28 (NLT)"A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls."
Devotion:
Self-control isnât just about resisting temptation; itâs about surrendering control to the One who knows best. Many of us live on emotional autopilot, reacting instead of responding, making decisions out of impulse instead of prayer. But self-control is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), meaning it grows when we allow the Holy Spirit to guide our hearts, minds, and actions.
When we try to lead ourselves, we often end up overwhelmed, burnt out, and defeated. But when we let God lead, He strengthens our will, sharpens our discernment, and gives us peace; even when our flesh wants to go another direction.
Letting God lead means pausing before we speak, praying before we react, and waiting before we move. Itâs not weaknessâitâs wisdom. True strength is found in restraint. And when we choose God's way over our own, He honors that decision and blesses our path.
Reflection Questions:
What area of your life do you need more self-control in?
Are you making decisions today based on your emotions or Godâs direction?
What can you do today to practice slowing down and letting God lead?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,Thank You for being my guide and protector. Help me to walk in the Spirit and not in my flesh. Teach me to wait on You, to listen for Your voice, and to trust in Your timing. Give me self-control when my emotions try to take over, and remind me that Your way is always better. Today, I surrender my plans and invite You to take the lead. In Jesusâ name, Amen.
Let God be the driver todayâyour peace, strength, and wisdom are in His hands. đď¸#PRAYHERE #LetGodLead #SelfControl #DailyDevotion #WalkInTheSpirit
