Scripture Reference: “But if you refuse to listen to the Lord your God and do not obey all the commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come and overwhelm you.” – Deuteronomy 28:15
Devotion: Not obeying God’s caring and wise instructions is self-destruction! His Word was never given to limit us, but to guide us, protect us, and keep us from walking into traps. When you study the scriptures; or even think back to the basics of right and wrong we all learned as children; you realize that it was all designed to keep us away from trouble.
Disobedience blinds us to danger. Like a child running into the street after being told not to, we sometimes ignore God’s warnings and end up facing the painful consequences. What looks harmless in the moment can quickly turn into regret that lasts a lifetime.
How many times have you ignored warnings, even from your parents, only to find trouble and regret not listening? Life would be so much better if we just be obedient.
Think about it: God’s instructions lead to life, peace, and blessings. But when we rebel and go our own way, we invite destruction, brokenness, and loss. Every time you choose to obey God, you are choosing life and saving yourself from unnecessary heartache.
Ask yourself: Am I obeying His voice, or am I walking toward self-destruction?
Prayer: Lord, help me to see the beauty and wisdom in Your instructions. Forgive me for the times I ignored Your voice and suffered the consequences. Strengthen me to obey You in every area of my life, even when it’s hard, because I know You are protecting me. I choose life, blessings, and obedience.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
